...unless there is more to this. Only thing I can think of is...So maybe Carlisle saw something improper at SC, and, in light of the culture and current sanctions, felt he could not be part of it. In that case if he were a whistle blower of sorts...NCAA would be looking at a nasty precedent if they DIDN'T let him transfer and play.

Not at all saying thats what is going on...just thinking out loud trying to understand why they think he has a chance to do this...

I agree that there must be something we don't know. Amir wants to follow his family to Indiana, so USC releases him to a competitor AND the NCAA waives the one-year penalty?? It just doesn't add up. Kids play football across the country from their family all the time. Don't see how that justifies making an exception. Must be more to the story.

I see the point -- I tried to make this point a few pages back -- but as I think Wooly pointed out to me Carlisle may be better than anyone else we have. Riddick was underwhelming last year, and Atkinson hasn't shown us anything except as a KR. We probably want Carlisle on the field right away; he could be a real difference-maker next year.

I get what you are saying. We have to field the best possible chance of winning. Some guys get lost in the shuffle at times. It would be nice if everyone sees a lot of playtime.

Why wait? We need to win now. Atkinson will play on the outside. Toma and Neal and Farley will be just fine in the slot.

Amir is strictly a running back he will not play in the slot.

#1 Injury was not serious
#2 Carlisle played in 8 games as a freshman at USC
#3 The only person that would be competing for PT would be Atkinson. Farley and Neal are WRs/CBs.

I think you're underestimating the talent and potential of Carlisle. He was arguably USC's best option at RB as a freshman.
