right now they may be right...if not them then urban

We'll see I guess. I still think we land Bivins and Pocic, just not next. Long way to go. This is a super deep OL class. I'm far from worried at this point.

the only reason for me to worry is that we were unable to land a guy who "grew up a ND fan" and should have been a lock a long time ago.

I agree and feel your pain. My guess is that after he didn't get a ND offer early, he was Michigans to lose. I'm sure his decision wasn't solely based on sticking it to ND, but I'm sure it crossed his mind.

Maybe a convincing win in South Bend and a solid relationship with HH, will help us crawl back into things.

If the reason why he didn't pick ND was because we didn't offer earlier then I don't want him because he should understand that we were transitioning coaches at Oline and offense

Before some of you get your panties in a knot take a deep breath and relax. He may change his mind 10 times or he may not change it at all. But just have faith our coaching staff get the plays they want and think can help this team. We have a long ways to go and i am sure thatwe will have atleast one player that will committ to us and then want to change his mind. Just let this play out fellows.

With all the Michigan activity today is their any elite prospect we can honestly say is a ND lean? Pocic (UM) , Charlton (UM) , kimbrough(OSU) Breneman (PSU) honestly look like they have ND second. I only see two that we lead and that's ty Isaac and maybe jaylon smith

Two questions

What made these guys pop so early and all at the same time?

If this keeps up do we have to start a who is likely next 2013 Michigan?

Anyone know of some prospects that might be less talked about that u could see committing when they take their visits in the next month or so?

He camped at ND last summer.

He did, and he acted like a brat when he didn't get an offer. I don't say this about every kid that chooses another school, but he does not seem like the type of person I'd want to have in my program. He is a Gehrig Deiter type of kid. Good player; punk of a kid. Pass.

How did he act like a brat? By being upset that he wasn't offered? Get off your high horse.

Whoa whoa whoa. I don't even own a high horse. I read the quotes at the time, about seven months ago, and I thought he sounded like a punk then. Its the whole "its not what you say, but how you say it" thing. I can understand him wanting an offer. I can't understand his apparent belief that the coaches should have been honored to have been in his presence, and that their not extending an offer on the spot was the ultimate show of disrespect. Other fish in the sea. He'll make a great Michigan Man.

Bivin and Matuska are next.

Question do we take two TEs then?

Interesting question. Not sure exactly how the staff views Matuska. If, come signing day, there were only one true TE to give LOI, then the staff may want Matuska as a TE. I think the staff (and this is purely my opinion) wants one bona fide TE that could play his freshman year, and maybe one guy that they can take a flyer on and develop some. I don't know if that means they think a guy like Corey Robinson could eventually develop into a TE or what. I think if Matuska were to go to ND, he could play TE his freshman year (if there is a need or injuries), and still become an OL down the road.

We are taking 2 TE's this year. Haurmeman we are the dark horse for. Also i think the kid out of Arkansas will be high on our list. Brennaman comes no matter what.

I agree that that is the plan. But we all thought the staff would ink 2 or 3 CB's come signing day 2012. Say they do land 2 TE's this cycle...and Matuska. Does he end up on the OL right away then? I kind of have the feeling that Matuska is a bit of a contingency plan, for OL and TE-- that the staff would like other OL ahead of him and other TE's ahead of him...but would take him nonetheless. Especially if they miss on other OL or TE prospects to fill that void.

hes rated the number 6 TE and I think Kelly wants him kinda for the reason u stated but not has a possible OL but has our only real blocking TE opposed to Koyack and others who are recievers more

My breakdown (hopefully):
QB 1 could live with 0
RB 2 could live with 1
WR 2 could live with 1
TE 2 could live with 1
OL 3 we could end up with 4
DL at least 1 DE, maybe 2 DE or 1 DE and 1 DT, could live with 0
OLB 3 could live with 2
ILB 3 could live with 2
CB 2
S 1
also some ATH who could play QB/WR or RB/WR/ or CB/WR etc

IMO Smith will play out the process but we do have the lead right now.

Yeah, I think they'd take Breneman, Heuerman/Henry and Matuska. Even if Matuska stays a TE, three TEs in the class of 2013 would only make five total, with Eifert and Golic both probably gone. I don't think it's so crazy to carry five TEs, especially when they have different skill sets (Matuska would be more of a brute blocker for running downs, the others would be more likely to be used as receivers).

GB, what does "Breneman comes no matter what" mean? Are you predicting we'll get him, or saying we take him no matter who else wants to come?

If we already have lets say Hauerman/ Henry committed and Breneman wanted to come we would take him. I dont think Matuska offer is commitable right now. I think hes 4th on the list.

Could live with one WR?

3 ILB? 6 total LBS?

One wide receiver and six linebackers would never happen.

Im talking about elite guys for this breakdown, we dont need 3 elite recievers for this class though we could sign 2 or 3 total recievers, we do need elite linebackers though and we should not settle for less than elite on defense while we can at QB, RB, and WR this year

I saw somewhere Kelly or Diaco said they want at least 2 OLB and 2 ILB

Also look at the recruits so far for this evidence; not many reciever targets besides elite players while many many linebacker targets

You saw somewhere where Kelly or Diaco discussed recruiting numbers for the 2013 class? I guess I missed that. A link would be great.

All your numbers in that breakdown were for elite players? You're expecting ND to land elite players at every position? Pretty bold. Most teams hope for one or two elite players for a whole class.
