Not to be overly persnickety, but it was Art Linkletter who created the concept as part of his radio show, "House Party," in 1945 and made the transition to "Art Linkletter's House Party" TV show, which aired in glorious black & white until 1969.

Notice that I didn't resort to "picky-***, mother-*******, ****-licking, ****-sucking ***** and/or *** in my diatribe to make my point. I felt no compunction to toss ******, ****** ***** or sorry *** ***** into the mix.

sly & the family stone - dont call me nigger, whitey - YouTube

Richard Pryor & George Carlin mash up - The 'N' Word - YouTube

Sadly, the SNL skit with Richard Pryor and Chevy Chase is not available on YouTube, otherwise I'd have provided a link.

Language, attitude and comportment carry historical and contemporary weight. To ignore or discount the past is to dismiss the future. Disdain for others, simply for their race, ethnicity, religious beliefs or gender is reprehensible. I like to think that exposure to a broader world view, such as Notre Dame provides, would make a difference. I won't hold my breath, though. Without a kernel to sprout, the rarified atmosphere far too many gifted male athletes thrive within trends toward the negative.

Shut your ******* mouth until you wise up.

That was funny! I mean, uh, well, it was wholly inappropriate!! Naw, it was just funny!

My thanks to Tadman, a true Southern Gentleman. Here is the link he provided to the Richard Pryor/Chevy Chase SNL skit:

Hulu - Saturday Night Live: Word Association

Andy would be proud of you, Aunt Bea would bake you a pie, Barney would stumble and bumble his way to agreeing with the message in the clip, Floyd would offer you a free shave and a haircut, and Opie would learn a worthwhile life-long lesson.

Otis would buy us a round at a bar in the nearest wet county – once he sobered up in the Mayberry jail.

We'll have to invite Aunt Bea. She and Otis are much closer (wink) than most people believe.

that whole website is just wierd as hell, stalking 17 year old kids to see what they say.......twitter should be banned from everyone

My sense is that the website is more about sensationalizing the hypocrisy of the universities than it is about embarrassing the kids. Otherwise, they'd just lump embarrassing tweets all together. Instead, they list them by school, in a week by week roll out, with this "humiliation" angle. To be sure, though, they can't embarrass the schools without embarrassing the kids.

I feel a little like I did when the Ohio State tattoo scandal broke. No, I don't mean 'euphoric,' though I did feel that then. I mean that I wonder where the adults are.

If you are Tressel and his weaselly, phony self-righteous coaches who feigned ignorance about tats, don't you think (assuming you don't know anything about tattoos), when some 19 year old walks in with a sleeve tat -- "I wonder how much that costs?" "I wonder where a 19 year old got 2000 bills for that?" -- How do you NOT start asking around? And then put a stop to it asap?

Likewise, don't coaches know about Twtter? Haven't they seen the general devolution of cultural norms some have cited here? Don't they see the cultural and generational pressure to say outrageous things, and a lack of the mental filters that might prevent them from doing so? And if so, what's so hard about anticipating it and telling these kids -- "DON'T DO IT! It will jeopardize your future, your opportunities."

I'm not excusing 17 year olds, who, yes, are foolish, but still should know better at some level. But any decent adult should see that, while culture is pushing kids to, and in fact kids do, embrace and desire a worldliness beyond their years, the kids are ignored in their personal formation. And this, in fact, leaves them, really, kids who lack maturity to act in a worldly way.

That's why adults matter and are supposed to guiding kids -- through high school and, yes, through college. This isn't the World War II generation, sad to say.

I thought the Notre Dame twitter part was suppose to come out today but nothing. I found one tweet that they plan to show though by Chris Brown.

Chris Brown Tweet

Apparently ND has been pushed back a week:

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly HUMILIATED by his players! Must see! | ChatFightingIrish.com

Apparently so has everyone else. What dumb site.

They probably thought every class would have tweets as "colorful" as the scUM boys, and are now finding they killed the golden goose with their first installment, and nothing else will be as good. I'm guessing these guys resort to digging and digging until they find something to publish, and if not, just make something up.

Isn't Rick Steele the name of a porn star? They don't even have Michigans out, and that was scheduled for 2/7! Bunch of morons.

This is honestly hilarious.... but I'm not sure if it's more hilarious that people are paying attention to these clowns or that the clowns are "going after" all the schools they have a grudge against USC fan against ND.... Florida alum against LSU, 'Bama and Urban Meyer (aka Ohio State).

Time to lock this bad boy down and move on? Nothing of any sort is going to come of this "journalism."

Suppose to come out today sometime. The problem is that this turd is getting the attention that he so desires. 2 Michigan recruits deleted their twitter because of it and Ondre Pipkins deactivated his for a week before issuing a public apology.

What a letdown. Those tweets were extremely mild. No mention of "ND breaking bread" or anything worth noting. NEXT.

...18 YOs being 18 YOs...not tickled, but they mature, and at ND probably more rapidly.

Steele will get his...you don't do a hit piece like this w/o getting hit back. Guy thinks he's playing darts...wait until he finds out he's throwing boomerangs.

Yet another hack gets to learn that the first amendmant protects you from being jailed and persecuted by the government...doesn't say anything about indignant parents and siblings...

I saw that too, maybe he thought it was along the line of pedophile or something... I have no idea why that was up there. I actually laughed out loud when I read it after the other posts he had.

The only thing I saw was the "n-word" and the only one I had a problem with was Nick Barritti using it for no apparent reason. African Americans can call each other derogatory terms, but white people cant, that is just common sense... :p

I still dont think any of those tweets are as bad as Yuri Wright's.
