We all know that Colin Cowherd is no fan of Notre Dame, and that he's known for making some pretty controversial comments. He, himself, openly admits that "conflict = ratings", so he's happy when people disagree with him. But he said something yesterday that really left me scratching my head:

In talking about the addition of Gunner Kiel, Cowherd said something to the effect of "It's no surprise that Brian Kelly went after a top QB. He did it at Cincinatti, and everyone knew that he would do it at Notre Dame. But I can't buy Notre Dame until they get some SEC-type talent up front on defense......." I so wanted to call in and ask Colin to read back to me Notre Dame commit list from 2011.

I know it's the unpopular opinion, I actually like Colin and I think he usually brings up compelling arguments and has the backing for them.

Yes, he's an ND hater....and for that, there is a special place in hell for him.

But I like his brashness and I like that, for the most part, tells you how it is. Even if you don't wanna hear it.

I agree with him on this...while we have NEW recruits that seem to have that "SEC type" to them, they haven't proved anything. Yet.

It's sad, but true.

I don't get exceited about anything an ESPN talkin head has to say anymore. I've completely boycotted espn for the last 2 years because they spew so much shotty nonsense to the general public, sports fan or not. And naturally, the vast majority of them buy into their bs...

ESPN is 99% evil, and the 1% they have is quickly leaving the network.

I pray that NBC Sports can continue take the classy presentations they use for ND games and others and mold their network into a true ESPN rival. Few things would bring me greater pleasure than never having to watch Sportscenter again.

1) Notre Dame and USC rarely compete over the same recruits. So true
2) USC has stomped us recently. Rattled off every score since 2003 or so and stopped abruptly before 2009. Convenient

I watched it and he is right. Yes, he didn't mention the ONE win we had. He was wrong that we don't battle for the same recruits but his point was Oregon plays a better game, recruits the same region they do and one has to beat the other to get what they want. We have been good against them once in 10 years? We hate them and they hate us but his points were dead on, IMO. Then again, that's just my opinion.

...I think he wishes he were Jim Rome circa 1998-2000. Rome said some stuff, and hacked some folks off back then, w/o any regard for ESPN or anyone else...but he was usually right. Now, well...not so much.

I never knew Cowturd untill ESPN...so maybe he had his day of relevance/competence. Now, well...not at all.

I realize Oregon has been good in the last 5 years. But let's not pretend that they haven't had their share of 6-6 seasons in the last 15 years. Also, they cheat at recruiting, as does USC.

The last 3 ND-U$C games have been close/entertaining games. USC and ND also have to beat each other to get what they want. Nothing he said was persuasive to me. The "ND isn't as good as Oregon" argument doesn't mean our rivalry is worse.
