Stanford? WTF? I thought he was flirting with Alabama. I hadn't heard ANYTHING about Stanford, not that I've been following him much.

Not worried about him going to Stanford. Gotta feeling he's playing baseball.

That is wierd. I has to be FSU then. Is there any indication he qualifies for Stanford?

Yeah we got our hands full in 14'. I still like our chances with EG going into his third year though. Besides I want a little champs sports bowl redemption.

25-27 for 356 yds, 4 TDs and ran for another in his debut against Pitt. Wow.

Yea he looked absolutely phenomenal. I share the sentiment that I thought he was going to be good but that was Heisman good. His ceiling is very high.

He was spectacular last night. Gonna be fun to watch him, but no fun to try to stop him.

I think the kid is ridiculous, but to be fair he got exactly what he needed from Pitt's D last night. Not to take too much away from him, but I saw only one throw all game that had to be right on the money because the defender was actually playing the receiver. His guys were open all night long. He didn't even have to put steam on the balls, he could just loft them up to his guys and the defender was so far away that they could never make a play.

My take is that Winston is very good, but Pitt's secondary is equally bad. Tommy will carve those corners up all day, just wait.

As others mentioned he looked good. But let's see how he does against a better team before we name him God.

*NOT looking forward to FSU next year.
REALLY NOT looking forward to hearing from all the FSU fans around me before/during the game.
Hopefully ND wins and I get to talk after...

25-27 is un-fricking-real for any QB...let alone a true freshman playing a decent team. I'm not saying Pitt is a quality opponent...but they are no doubt a D1 team with talent on the defensive side of the ball. I only watched the first half, but I did see one incompletion in which the ball was perfectly thrown and the receiver just didn't get his foot down in bounds (actually he might have had they reviewed it). Didn't see the other incompletion, but he was very close to a perfect night. Incredible!

Now...don't shoot me when I say this, because I'm not saying he is or will ever get to this level...but his game, demeanor, throwing motion made me think of Tom Brady...did anybody else get that vibe?

I agree that he looked like a veteran out there from a poise and demeanor perspective that I was very impressed with but I don't see the Tom Brady comparisons.

Idk why I think so...his overall game is far different than Brady's but for whatever reason I think they have similar throwing motions

I'm crazy lmao

He's not a true freshman but it doesn't matter, dude had the best stats of any QB I've seen for a while. 25-27 is impressive if you're playing catch in the backyard let alone against a real opponent.

Called him winning the Heisman in the Heisman thread. Just think FLA State will ride a pretty easy schedule to 12-0 and the Winston hype will be out of control.

Clemson (Boyd) vs. Florida State (Winston) will be a game that helps decide a.) NCG contender (loser will be knocked out, winner could be in the thick of it) b.) ACC Atlantic and c.) Heisman Trophy race. If Winston wins @ Clemson, he'll be on the short list of mid-season contenders.

Everybody remember Geno Smith through the first six games of last season?

Sorry I meant first 4 games:

James Madison: 34-39 411 yds 5 TDs
Maryland: 30-43 338 yds 3 TDs
Baylor: 45-51 656 yds 8 TDs
Texas: 25-35 268 yds 4 TDs

Clear Heisman front runner and top QB in college football that then came crashing down in 5 straight losses.

It's a marathon not a sprint.

I think you could say the same thing for a number of players. Kyle Orton and Denard Robinson come to mind. No doubt Winston has a lot of work to do to even be in the Heisman conversation, but I think it's safe to say, even after one performance, the kid is going to be special.

To be completely honest, I've had the opportunity to see him up close and personal and he's the best I've ever seen at that age (senior in HS). I'm not a QB guru, but I know a few, including RG3's personal QB trainer, and that comparison has been made.

And physical tools aside, the thing that separates him from top college QBs who failed to make it at the next level is the attitude. Winston may never win the Heisman, lead FSU to a NC or be picked 1st overall in the draft, but the kid is not going to fail.

Yeah it's just one game but, that was a hell of a performance in his first one. I thought Pitt looked pretty good all things considered. I hope that we put up a much better performance against them than last year. They always line up against our guys and give everything they got. There is 0 quit in that team.
