If he doesn't come here, UCLA would be a great parting gift

Dan Wetzel interview with Mike Farrell discusses recruiting in California starting around the 19:50 mark.
Dan Wetzel 2012 Recruiting Podcast | Yahoo Sports Radio

Thinks that we have a "good shot" at Arik and that ND has some momentum in his recruitment.

States that outside of west coast schools, ND does the best job of recruiting California

Thinks that Stanford is the school that will benefit the most from the scholarship restrictions being placed on USC

I'd be ok with them at UCLA. Anything that doesn't hurt us but hurts SC is fine with me.

1/3 II guys thinks we get him. Granted he said this with very little confidence but the other 2 said Cal and Wash with even less confidence.

I'm surprised that no information has leaked about his medical condition. I haven't seen anything that discusses his medical issue.

If we clear armond, im sure well get Arik. no pac-12 school can get him (armond)

Christina Armstead said Armond has been told he can enroll at Auburn now, though "we have to petition the SEC for that transfer and that can take two days or three weeks." so auburn is an option for armond

Sorry guys but bad news here. According to 247, he's heavily considering four schools. Auburn, Oregon, Washington, and Cal. I think we are done here. Just to let you know, this is according to Auburn 247 site.

That site has been consistently wrong throughout this entire thing so I don't buy it. Sorry. I think he stays out west at either Oregon, Washington, or Cal. If he leaves the west coast I don't see him at Auburn under any scenario that does not involve Armond.

EDIT: not a direct quote but it is what Arik told the guy in the interview.

They were wrong before because they were using "sources" not the Armsteads.

Sounds like game ova.

Yeah just reporting what I read. I do think we are out of it though, which is what most people think.

Same info is on ND's 247 site, though Bryan Matthews is listed as the author. Sure doesn't sound good, especially after an in-home yesterday.

His interest in us has seemed to be largely driven by basketball and his brother. Once the EE window closed, he wasn't going to play basketball this season. And if we didn't medically clear his brother...

Was this guy just playing ND from the beginning I mean from what I've read it was pretty much down to Cal and ND and since the Cal coach left he's been backing off of ND????

Did he ever come right out and say "It's down to Cal and Notre Dame", though? Seems like that was just speculation for the most part.

Yeah, my point was more that I don't think Auburn is in it than ND being out of it. Only way Auburn is in seems to be if they get some sort of assurance that Armond is cleared to transfer there before he decides. Which reallllllllllly doesn't look like it is going to happen.

It seems like Cal's been his top choice for some time. We were in the mix. We only really emerged on top when his Cal recruiter left and he still wanted to EE and try and play with his brother.
But he decided to wait, which was probably the right decision for him (it was all crazily rushed). That seemed to open everything else up and now there's a bunch of Pac 10 and SEC schools in the mix. It's too bad. But what do you do. Just hope he doesn't wind up at USC.

We were in the mix (and actually the leader for a moment) because of the Armond transfer opportunity. Without that + Tosh leaving Cal we were significantly behind. Can't see him going to ND with how we didn't clear his brother after giving the family the impression that we likely would before we got a hold of Armond's medical records.

I got two questions for you more intelligent people:

1. Do we know for sure Armond did not clear with ND?

2. And if he did not clear, where will Armond end up since he can't go with his brother to any Pac-12 school?
