I wonder what could be "holding up" a medical clearance? Unless they're waiting on blood test results or medical records to be transferred from elsewhere, but even then, that should be a minimal wait.

I'm assuming the medical staff will be able to give a definite yes or no in short order. If I were Kelly, I'd go all-in with my in-home visit this weekend if Armond gets clearance. Our chances of landing Arik will never be better than they are now.

here's a link i posted earlier about the medical condition

1. Word is ND might have the same concerns that usc did with Armond. Last thing any school wants to do is have a player die on the practice field or game. This will be a bold comment, and meant in no disrespect to anyone. But the last thing ND needs is another death in the football program with Mr. Sullivans passing a short time ago.

2. You guys do realize ND is going up against the school that wrapped up Cam Newton? I am sure a SEC official is waiting on a check to be deposited as we speak. ND aint dirty. My guess is Auburn is telling Armond he will play, then not play him. I mean running a risk of 2 schools saying no, and going against that is a HUGE risk.

3. This class will be special.

4. Agree or disagree with me, but some of you guys need a better attitude! One day your all happy, then the next its the end of the world! I mean that's how ND stadium is on saturdays, these guys are CHANGING the culture inside the locker room. Change needs to be made outside the campus. We can't expect them to blow it, because THEY all care now. They are coming back for their senior years, they are saying and actually meaning right things. Time for the fanbase to change.

5. BK has won everywhere. Is that going to change? NO.

Very valid point. Staff needs to make sure everything is medically in order for Armond to play and compete at a high level without having to worry about any serious health issues for Armond's sake and ND's as well.

I have to honestly though... I do have respect for SC for not letting Armond play. It would have been pretty easy for them to look away and scoop up Arik and take a chance on letting Armond get hurt. Instead, they hurt their chances at getting a top recruit.

Respect their medical staff; not their coaching staff. Had it been up to them, I have little doubt that Kiffin and co. would have gleefully cleared Armond to nab Arik.

Your theory on Armond's medical condition has already been duly repped, good sir.

Someone mentioned mysterious chest pains elsewhere. Using that as an example, what could a medical clearance for such a condition even involve? An EKG? Some blood work? I just don't see how this sort of thing could take very long.

First, thank you kind sir for the rep.
On the medical condition... Wondering if they had to request and review the USC reports. If so, I can't see the USC staff turning around anything quickly for ND....

TP, not that your credibility ever changed with me but, I am glad you came back on after the post that everyone got all jacked about last night. You showing your optimism about our class still will help them stay positive like you wish.

I haven't seem anyone say this yet, but how nice would it have been if Arik had visited ND with Armond?

Now that they've decided to postpone their decision until signing day, can they both visit again? My knowledge of this is basically confined to NCAA Football 2012 on Xbox and on that you only get 1 january visit. So this must be the case...

The Armstead's would have had to pay for Arik to fly since he was already on his official to USC game. Just think it could have put them over the top, if they already aren't.

Thanks for this. After a couple consecutive days of being glued to this site, I took most of today off. The general mood of this board oscillates far too much on a day-by-day, hour-by-hour basis, subject always to the (recruiting) story du jour. And for the most part that is fine. I follow that stuff too much, also. But it does get tiresome, and in being so manic this board (and ND fans in general) too frequently loses touch with the big picture - in which, as TP so rightly pointed out, the program seems to be headed in the right direction.

I would love the Armsteads to end up at ND (if Armond can play without putting his health in serious jeopardy). I'd love Darby to flip back, and hope to at least come up with another CB if he doesn't. Adding another WR of the group we're pursuing would awesome. But whether all of that, some of that or none of that comes to fruition, I hope we can not lose sight of all of the talent that has already been stockpiled by this staff over the last couple years and the changing of the culture that is taking place at ND right now. We will be fine, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to take another handful of 4/5:s: players along for the ride if everything works out for us over the next week.

P.S. I had to laugh when I got done reading TP's thoughtful post, and the next post said essentially "thanks for that moment of clarity; now back to the hysteria: tell me what is going to happen next!!" We seriously don't have any capacity to let some of this play out a bit and see what happens? Haha.

Recruits are allowed ONE official visit to each of FIVE separate schools. On that visit, travel, food, lodging is all paid for and/or organized by the hosting school. The visit can last up to 48 hours. There is no date-centricity here. It can be anytime of the year.

Outside of that, a recruit can visit ANY school ANY number of times on an unofficial visit. Food, lodging, travel is all on the visiting recruit at this point.

Hope that helps.

Kiel= #1or2 QB; Shumate & Prosise = only Clemson with a higher rated safety pair; Mahone and Russell = only GA, AL, VT, & ARK with a higher rated RB pair; Day = 14th DT; Shepard 3rd to 7th rated corner; Ferguson & Greenberry = only AL, OK, TTech with higher rated WR pairs; Stanley & Harrell = both in top 50 rated tackles [Stanley as high as 11th]; we know what Baratti can be; we know what Okwara can be; Jones = 13th or 12th either DT/DE or OT. THIS CLASS IS ALREADY SPECIAL. And we ain't done.

Wright or Darby... and another warm body at O Line (Have no clue where from,... I know.... but I would like to see us get more there) and I would be more than happy...

anything on top of that would be a nice bonus for sure...

1.) Another corner
2.) Would be nice to get another linemen.

.

I once heard someone say, "Man! How can these guys afford to go on these unofficial visits!"

Most people seem to forget, that if their kid is getting a football scholarship, they don't have to pay $10,000/year to $25,000/year (depending on where you go) for tuition. Its far easier to pay a couple grand off on your credit card than $100K in loans.
