Anybody else get the feeling that even Kiel doesn't know *definitively* what he's going to do yet?

No. I think the reason someone like Wiltfong hasn't confirmed is because of the rumor that the Kiels don't want to make an announcement. He is close with their family and he wouldn't break the story if they didn't want him to.

Maybe its about Armsteads too? And Darby?
One can hope.

Could a kiel enrollment play a role in getting Darby back or help in landing Nelson?

What happened at LSU? I haven't been on in a few days.

Had nothing to do with "racially divided" locker room. The rumors say some of the offensive players were unhappy with Jefferson's preparation. Was both the black and white players, receivers, line and a few RB's. They also thought that Lee deserved a chance to play in the BCS game after his performance this season.

^looked back at Armsteads rankings, didnt realize he was
#1 overall on 2 different sites. getting kiel and he would give us the undesputed #1 class in
the country.... except ESPN who would put us around 18

Supposedly there was an altercation in the locker room before the NC game between some players and coaches. One of the players was rumored to be Hebert's son.

Nothing has been proven true tho.

If you check gino joubert (guy broke stuff when gunner chose lsu) he thinks nd sent gunner email about team dissension

I consider Rivals.com to be the foremost authority on recruiting rankings.

A Gunner Kiel, Arik Armstead, & Ronald Darby commitment would likely put ND in the top 10 (nowhere near the #1 overall class).

Read it. And, honestly, it's not exactly heart warming, to me. "Kiel still wants to go to LSU but his mother got very emotional as he was preparing to leave on Monday"....not exactly what I wanted to hear. I would have preferred, Kiel just felt ND and his home state tugging at his heart strings and realized his commitment to LSU wasn't what he truly wanted.

Oh well. I need to see more than a USA Today quoting guys from Rivals before I thank God for this.

I don't really buy the whole "he'd go to LSU except for his mom" angle. However, given that the Kiels have been very private throughout the process, I don't know that anyone outside their circle will ever get the full story of why this happened the way it did.

They aren't even close to the foremost authority anymore.

I read that too.

I am really torn on that. I know we get negative recruited out of our a****, but I am still not a fan of it, even if it generates something like this.

In reality, I know ND does it too, I just don't like hearing about it.

Honestly, ND has been taking the high road for too many years, and look at where it has gotten us. Give me a bulldog of a coaching staff willing to roll up its sleeves and get dirty for talent any day of the week (as long as no rules are being broken of course).

Poach, promise everything, put down other programs; do whatever. All is fair in war.

Maybe that would partially explain his father's bizarre performance at the post-game presser?

Charlie's "high road" wasn't very effective, but that doesn't mean we have to embrace the lowest common denominator.

Poach, promise everything, put down other programs; do whatever. All is fair in war.

There's nothing wrong with poaching, and our staff can honestly and ethically neg-recruit the hell out of most of our competitors without resorting to lying. But ND doesn't need to make false promises and "do whatever" to recruit well. The classes of 2011 and 2012 will prove that on the heels of mediocre seasons.

Nothing wrong with giving a kid all the information and protecting him from a potentially disastrous situation. Is BK doing it out of desperation? Maybe. Did what happen in the locker really occur? Quite possibly so BK wouldn't be lying but I would rather a kid choose to go somewhere else with ALL the facts instead of sitting on some information that could really affect the future of the kid.

It's just the name of the game. You want to win, you need to do it. I don't think you can find a national champion coaching staff that hasn't done it in I don't know how many years. You need to put your hands in the dirt to pull out the treasure. It's a bit sad, but it is what it is.

Hehe, you should hear his Saints post game radio show.

Bobby is Bobby, he's a character, his post Super Bowl Parade was a thing of awesomeness.

That said, he was should have not asked that question/statement. Heck he probably had a few too many before the presser.

From what T-Bob Hebert has posted on twitter, its all false, but there is probably some truth to the rumors.

According to Wikipedia:

Kiel has an extensive and impressive family lineage. His son Brandon was a successful quarterback for Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers, Indiana, earning a scholarship to Indiana University before leaving the football team. Blair has two brothers, Pat and Kevin, who also played football for Columbus East at the same time. Kip went on to Butler University to play football after sustaining an injury. His sons, Blair's nephews, have gone on to have successful quarterbacking careers as well. Drew Kiel is currently quarterback for Illinois State while Dusty Kiel earned a scholarship to Indiana University and the youngest, Gunner, is the top rated quarterback according to ESPN Scouts Inc. and has committed to University of Notre Dame.

I understand what you are saying, but the same thing can be rationalized like "Don't go to ND, your coach will embarrass you on national TV. We are just looking out for you and don't want you to be put in that situation".

Pointing out other programs shortcomings (whether true or not) is negative recruiting in my book. Like I said, I know that it goes on everywhere and ND does it too.
