Stud...but board is pretty quiet about this beast of a kid. Instead if wallowing in self-pity, we should be celebrating the arrival of another legit defensive lineman...

Day is, remember, the player who the staff took ahead [just] of Tommy Shutt --- admittedly another superb talent. THAT should tell us all we need to know regarding how good this young superman is. I will not be surprised if he gets playing time this year spelling Big Lou. That could easily depend on whether Sean is back, but if he's not, Sheldon will be in there.

He won best lineman at OPENING last summer.

so glad we got him, he was a dominant force in Indiana this year, he was the best player on the best team in the state (although they did not win the championship)

Not gonna lie. I thought if we lost anyone, it would be Day. He's quiet and supposedly grew up a UM fan.

SO excited to have him though especially as an EE. This kid is a monster. His explosion off the ball is elite and that alone will give him a chance to be a great d-lineman.

Have to love Big Lou's attitude and work ethic. If Sheldon sticks with him, we should expect big things. He will be a great mentor and role model for incoming bigs.

Having seen him play in person at Warren Central I am super excited about this kid. He is a hard worker who will help solidify the middle at ND. Now he's on the Irish Chocolate 'get beast plan'. Oh yes, a great day to be Irish indeed.

Irish Chocolate is a great face for ND football. Very positive, friendly, funny, and has the determination to be great! He's a fan favorite for sure, and a great guy for Sheldon to model himself after (off the field, on the field they are two completely different creatures).

From Inside the Irish. Sheldon will make a real impact this year IMO. I like the comparison they have made.

SHELDON DAY
High School: Warren Central — Indianapolis, Indiana
Measureables: Six-foot-two, 286-pounds
Other major offers: Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Michigan, North Carolina, Penn State, Stanford
Fun Fact: Finished second to fellow Irish early-enrollee Gunner Kiel for Indiana’s Mr. Football.
On choosing Notre Dame: ”I’m excited to get here and get started on my classwork and to start the conditioning program with Coach Longo. I really liked meeting the guys during my recruiting process and I’m excited to start workouts with them this winter.”
What he’ll bring to the defense: Any other year, Sheldon Day is the recruit Irish fans are hysterical over. Rarely do the Irish beat out defensive linemen that have options like LSU, Penn State, Florida and Michigan, but Day had a relatively drama-free early enrollment and brings another building block to the defensive line. While he’s projected to be a defensive tackle by most recruiting services, Day might have the versatility to allow him to play along the edge of the defensive line, as a more athletic, but slightly smaller Ethan Johnson. An incredibly productive player at Indianapolis powerhouse Warren Central, Day is an excellent athlete that also happens to play defensive line.

Forgot about the LSU and Florida offers for Sheldon. IDK if he will ever start but he will be a major player.

Day's going to be an A$S-Kicker. Don't doubt this player. He's going to be splitting time with Big Lou in a fairly short time --- maybe even this year. Don't get me wrong: Big Lou's the Man, but Day going to be the next man in, which means lots of minutes.

So many good DL...

If Day ends up at DT primarily, his situation will be a mirror of Nix's last year. Nix is a natural "immovable object"-type run stuffer, but he needed to lose some weight and improve his conditioning to stay on the field.

Day is naturally an explosive pass rusher, but he'll need to gain some weight and improve his conditioning to stay in on rushing downs, etc.

He's so quick for his size. I had some doubts about his high but I think he is legit 6'2".

Who does he remind you guys of?
