Any other possible walk-ons or preferred walk-ons? I know quite a few graduated this year, correct?

Lots of updates including the picture after the Russel commitment. Having Russel on board allows ND to be a bit choosy with remaining skill position players.

Removed Gunner, updated Taylor McNamara, Jordan Westerkamp, Devin Fuller, Elijah Shumate, and others with new buzz and decision schedules.

Now that I'm off my premium site hiatus I've made a lot of updates.

One guy I should probably add is Kent Taylor but I will be waiting to do so until Florida hires an OC.

If Daje Johnson schedules an OV, he'd be worth adding to the list. I really hope the staff pushes for this kid. Great speed!

I'm really surprised Devin Fuller isn't being pursued more by our staff (if that's what you claim). He seems like a great ATH and could help this team out tremendously.

How many spots do you feel are available not including the two possible commitments ND receives this weekend?

Kelly doesn't have a lot of wiggle room now. I'd say "six" spots at the outside. Theory: Shumate, Wright; Westerkamp; Fuller; Ekanem; Garnett.... end of line. If someone flips... then elsewise. If Coach thinks he's really "in" on people like Odenigbo et al, he's hamstrung about how long to wait. Players are probably somewhat paired in his strategy now. Example: does he tell Ekanem that the offer is not firm, but depends on another player "and we'll tell you in a week?" or some such play? With some players you might get away with that [like Agholor's teammate linebacker], but others wouldn't stand for it.

Sean Cwynar's ability to get into a second grad school program plays into this, as well. This is looking increasingly like Golic is out, to say nothing of Goodman. Only KLM, Cave, Slaughter seems undebatable right now as 5ths. However, I'll bet that Kelly has a lot of inside information on all these people. His decisions will still have to be guesses/hunches on some of them and what strategy to use, but thankfully he'll have a little more to work with than we do. To me, this part of the head-coaching job seems utterly nerve-wracking unless you're psychic. The ultimate pressure-releaser for Coach and for ourselves is that our roster is pretty darn good as it stands, and there is always a next recruiting season to fill up the holes we missed on this time.

More saying that I'm not sure how hard we are pushing because I know he has talked to Diaco but I don't know if he has talked to Martin or Kelly. And you would think we'd be blowing up his phone today or tomorrow if we want to get that last OV... so I guess we'll just have to wait and see here what happens.

Daje Johnson I LOVE but I have serious skepticism we actually get the OV he is talking about.

Thanks for the info OMM and Lax.

I've wracked my brain enough lately trying to form an opinion on how I see this class finishing. I've just decided to sit back and enjoy the ride.

This is the way to go. I think this year will be like last year, where our recruiting class will build a lot of positive momentum going through the off season. I like the direction were headed and I am excited to see the final destination.

sorry to get off topic. Is there a thread created that lists the upcoming HS Allstar games and what recruits we have playing in them?

Is it possible that we end up geting 2 Armsteads, Garnett, Shumate, Wright and Westerkamp and not have room for Neal and Algohor (or 1 of those 2) if they wanted in? There are only so many seats on the bus and we aren't cutting people, cough U$C.

With the guys left on our board, the staff will likely take the first 6 that jump on board.

That said, Armond Armstead's transfer to ND strikes me as extremely unlikely. Assuming there's even mutual interest, any one of the following could prevent it from happening: (1) USC could find a way to block it; (2) Armond might not pass the Faculty Board for admission into a graduate program; or (3) Kelly and co. might decide against it simply due to locker-room politics.

That would be funny though IF somehow he ended up at ND and he was a big part in kicking the living daylights out of U$C next year! That would be sweeeeet revenge on his part, wouldn't it?!?

I hear you, but if there is mutual interest and options 1 and 2 were not a problem, would Kelly really not offer a scholarship if it meant locking up his brother? I forgot about Fuller in the previous list. Without a 4th QB on the roster, I'm a bit concerned (for future development, not necessarily this year). I feel like this class is going to end up being Elite.

Substitute Fuller for Garnett, and it looks a little more realistic.

It could definitely happen. There are just a lot of hurdles to clear before the Armstead brothers can play together in South Bend. I wouldn't bet on it at this point.

I'd bet against it happening. One brother wants to come in EE that could happen on its own. But if that's contingent on the older brother getting in to a graduate program that decision won't come in time. The 5th year decision usually comes after Signing Day as the Faculty Board meets on its schedule not the football department's. That would be weeks after an Early Enrollee starts classes.

Therefore Kelly would now be hustling to touch several bases at the same time to get some preliminary assurances. If those assurances were in place and the individuals involved held up their own ends, then ND would honor its end and the Armsteads would know that, because of who we are.

Lots of updates and removals. Approximately 4 spots left... very realistic potential to close with Westerkamp, Armstead, Armstead, Fuller... which would be incredible.

It's crazy how much the team is shaping up. After this recruiting class we will have alot of depth at almost all of our positions. The future is very bright, and it's awesome how well our staff recruits.

What's amazing is that the recruiting is going well and IMO, the season was a disappointment.

According to everything I've read, Amir does count against our scholarship numbers this year. Anyone have a link to a story stating to the contrary?

I don't see why he wouldn't. Has to count somewhere.
