'10 UT S Chris Badger (BYU Transfer)

The article was saying he is cutting his mission down by about 4-5 months so he could make it back. I wonder if he will have time to crack the S rotation.

So, what would he be considered? A sophmore?

Could be a special teams monster. I wouldn't want to meet a full speed Chris Badger while returning a kick.

Like any freshman coming in, speed of the game and the football intellect is going to take some time to grasp. Though, I expect him to be very mature, and therefore, faster to adapt.

I'd be amazed if he didn't redshirt. Getting back into football shape after two years of not playing is no easy task.

He would also be a matured 21 year old freshman with 4 years of eligibility. Watch his hit video. Don't think that he's not going to be in the mix year 2.

Offer List included:

Brigham Young
California
Florida State
Missouri
Northwestern
Oregon
Stanford
Utah

Wow.

I don't know the level of competition he played against but that video was great.

Great form tackling with power
Great instincts
Has some moves to him
Keeps his feet going

5A level schools in Utah...so the best talent the state has to offer. His region runs the table in 3A-5A during state playoffs (although not this year)...so even tune up games with 3A and 4A teams are the best Utah has...

It isn't the same as say Florida, but I think he'll translate just fine...More like McCarthy than Zibby.

The missionary thing is tough...you just never know what you'll get back. Lets remember he went to South America...I'm gonna guess he comes back 10-15 lbs light, and physically needing to work hard to get back to what he was when he left. Its tough enough to adjust to the speed of the game when you are a freshman in top shape...he will not be.

If I had to bet, sight unseen, I'd put money on a redshirt year before we see him...even on special teams...

Hoping I'm wrong because we could use him...

Thanks!

The article had quotes from his brother saying he is around 190 right now.

Isn't he at a fairly high altitude? If he is, then doing sprints and wind conditioning will really help when he gets back. Should be easier getting muscle and weight back on with good cardio-vascular conditioning.

That puts him only 4-5 lbs down from his playing weight...thats really good news if thats the case, he might have found a way...just hoping its "good" weight.

IMO with a nose for the ball plus his ability to make the big hit i think he can easily be a day 1 special teamer.

Huh? How is the number all the way down to 3? I thought it was at 6 with those 3 5th year guys included?

According to the eligibility chart on ISD, keeping KLM, Cave, and Jamoris and adding Badger with the current commits, there is room for 6 more. Not sure how Hansen came to those numbers.

Who knows.. maybe he knows of some commits that we don't know about yet and released that as a mistake.

So happy to have Chris back. He better start hitting the weights and following Longo's work out plan as soon as he arrives home.
