This kid is so good. A lot of people will forget about him if he redshirts too. I am guessing that we are going to have a lot of people saying "who in the hell is that Okwara kid?" in a couple years.

Awesome pick up.

This kid is only 17 right now too?

Crazy..any clue when this kid actually turns 18? will he be able to drink at the linebacker at all while enrolled??

so are we just assuming hes 17 now? or still 16 and beasting kids...

oh wow, good quote from article:
Okwara should also continue to grow quite a bit before reaching South Bend as the three star prospect just recently turned 16.

and that was on July 11, 2011

So wait... he is still 16?

He will be an 18 year old redshirt freshman?

Yes, he's still 16.

Yes, he'll be an 18 year old redshirt freshman, assuming he sits next year.

He will be younger then the early enrollees in the 2013 class playing in the spring game of his freshman year.

We'll be growing a MONSTA.

He's not a monster. He's a monstar!

This kid is going to be a baller on the line. I'm really excited about his upside.

Go to 00:45 and watch him launch the poor lineman opposite him... It's epic.

Careful with calling him the Councell of this class. Don't want too high of expectations to put pressure on him.

I think a lot of people have already compared him to Ben Councell.

The thing I like most about his video is how he keeps his head up when he's engaged with a blocker. He's a very smart player with tons of upside. Should be exciting to watch him grow into a man. If he has a good work ethic, Longo could mold this kid into something special. Also, he'll be competing with guys like Lynch, Tuitt, Jones, Ishaq, Councell, Day, Niklas, Shembo, KLM, and possibly guys like Odenigbo and Armstead in practice. Should only make him better.

How do we even know that Councell will be good? Because Rivals says so? Because he looked good for a few days at the shrine bowl?

Word. Hopefully he is great but if I'm not mistaken, in the words of Andre 3000 in the movie Semi-Pro, "He ain't done ****".

It's a comparison more to the recruitment then how good he has been or will be for ND. After the shrine bowl Councell's stock shot up quite a bit. Before that game a lot of Notre Dame fans thought he was underrated by the recruiting services. We're hoping the same thing will happen this year when Okwara plays in the shrine bowl. That's the comparison.

Word 2.0. I also wasn't sure of the comparison, but now I'm picking up what Riddikulous was putting down.

Kind of reminds me of Amobi Okoye. Except Okwara is a couple years older.

Okoye went to Louisville at 15 and was drafted in the 1st round of the NFL at 19.

JC Shurburtt on Romeo from Shrine Bowl practices:

I did get a good look at Notre Dame commit Romeo Okwara- it's easy to see the upside there in terms of frame- long arms and looked quick coming out of his stance in drills.
