A Former Penn State Assistant And Survivor Of Childhood Sexual Abuse Blasts Joe Paterno: "Joe Knows Everything That Goes On In That Program"

Everyone should read this. In fact, everyone should just read Deadspin in general. The more and more that comes out... just wow. Penn State was is an utter fraud... and more than that, that whole tow or state or whatever is just one corrupt mess. Reminds me of the movie American Gangster when EVERYONE is on the take.

Are you just figuring this out now? Welcome to your new government job. To the right are the bribes and kickback depts, to the left is the kickback and bribe depts. Please make sure to fill your pockets regardless of what you are actually doing by passing laws to ensure big business, like banks, can rape consumers for all their worth.

Deadspin is doing a fantastic job covering the Penn State thing. But like you said, they are must-read on a daily basis, anyways. Some of the best writing around. That Paknis item is actually just a transcript of a radio interview he did on the FAN in New York, but well worth checking out. I think Paknis also was the subject of a story posted on NBC's sports website yesterday.

This whole thing is so incredible on so many levels. The story broke 10 days ago and hasn't started to slow down at all.

Phork, I get where you're coming from, but saying stuff like that makes it seem like this kind of systemic corruption is commonplace, which cheapens the Penn State story. It is the exemplification of the worst possible result of absolute power, distorted priorities and a cult of personality run amok.

Just to quote from the article I linked:

Q:If Paterno and the program was as squeaky clean and dignified as the public perceives:
A: "Well Mike, three things stick out in my mind from my experience from what I can remember, it was a long time ago. One is I grew up in a mixed neighborhood in New Jersey, and my first friend was African American, and I was in a staff meeting one time and we were having some problems at quarterback with Kisner, and someone recommended what about Darren Roberts? He was an All State quarterback from New Jersey. And Coach just said we're not ready for a black quarterback. And we had Ron Dickerson in the room who was an assistant, and he just went ballistic which I always thought was pretty cool that he stood up to Joe. But Randall Cunningham was the starting quarterback at the time for the Eagles. But Darren never got a chance for us; I don't know why, but that was stated in the room. So clearly that's one incident where if any manager in corporate America said that, they'd be gone the next day. Another time, just the academic adviser coming over shaking his head and saying ‘it's happening again.' Coach would pull guys and make sure they were going to practice rather than going to class and he'd say ‘he can't take that class, it's during practice.' So pretty much all the stuff that they projected was controlled spin."

It's just going to keep getting worse. We're a long time away from rock bottom for Penn State and everyone involved in this sick story. A LONG time away. More and more sh!t is going to keep coming out...

I was just wondering. Thanks. The only place I saw anything about McQueary playing in a Sandusky golf tournament is here.

Jane Leavy writes an open letter to Penn State assistant coach Mike McQueary - Grantland
Thought this was a very interesting article with an alternative view on McQueary. Most people, including many on this site, have been quick to vilify McQueary, which is natural. However, I think this article shows that this situation, like most things in life, just isn't that simple. I am loathe to say that he did everything right, he definitely could have done more. But that's the point of the article; being the whistleblower is an unenviable position. I think it makes him somewhat more sympathetic. Again, not a hero, but somewhat sympathetic. Obviously it all seems quite hollow in the face of the continued sexual abuses...

McQuery is a b!tchmade sucker. The two police stations coming out and saying there was no report by anyone, especially not McQuery, is testament to that.

McQuery is making him self look bad in this ordeal. He swears that he went to the university police however the police chief says they have no record of any such thing. I know it is possible that the police are lying but it just seems everytime you turn around Mcquery is more shady,

I know, I personally blame the media. I would only imagine how much more media coverage this would get had Sandusky been African American. Don't get me wrong, it was a horrible crime, but I feel that there are more important topics to cover than 24/7 coverage of Penn St. All I hear is Michael Jackson's doctor trial, Kim Kardashian and Penn St.

/end rant

Want to see (read) some truly delusional people in full delirium? Look no further: Good News For PSU If True

Also, the comments to this article (seemingly 90% PSU fans) are astonishing. These people are on a different planet. They think the media is the bad guy and JoePa is the victim.

With everyone else in Pennsylvania covering their rear end, I feel that it is (as impossible as it is to believe) just barely possible that the police chief of the campus police might be covering his own rear end.
I know this flies against all logic and would be astonishing if true.

A Notre Dame law professor wrote a courageous article about the Penn State scandal. It can be found here.

McKenna was one of my professors in law school. No one knew.

This story is going to he so big of a cluster to figure out. I think the only way to fix this is to Have everyone from the football program be gone start over from coach to team doc's. Then they will have to get a new campus police chief.

My goodness. That man's legacy is in shambles now. Man knows his football, but seems that he truly had absolute power on that campus. And it absolutely corrupted him. At least we are not hearing of any recruiting violations from over the years. That seems to be the last good thing left of his legacy. Hope for his sake that at least that part remains honest.
