I feel like we will get 2-3 commits before the end of this month. Kiel should break after his season, a WR, and a wildcard.
Next years class should be better than the previous two.
Which WR? Payton seems to be Michigan unless maybe we get Kiel before he commits. Agholor will wait. Seems like Ian Thomas will wait. Darboh? I like him but I don't know where we stand.
Where's the third O-Lineman??
Where's the third O-Lineman??
"Random Offensive Lineman" sounds like that option is a last resort---almost a toss-off idea. I'll bet that "random lineman" is WAY farther up the Kelly War-Room list than that.
It's not about being high up on the war room list, it's about actually landing the guy. My point was more that we aren't on the inside track with any of the people on our board right now... but yeah, we're certainly trying hard and I wouldn't be surprised to see us land someone when all is said and done... but I don't think it will be late in the cycle... hence #6 in the order.
Look at the developments tonight... now we're all of a sudden in it with Joey O'Connor, a former Penn State commit and ESPNU150 kind of guy. I don't know if we even have a profile on him.
I think when all is said and done we probably don't pick up a big fish for the OL but very well may add a dude with high upside that isn't on our board right now.

O'Connor rethinking USC and others
By Phil Kornblut
The recruiting fallout from the Penn State scandal is growing. OL Joey O’Connor of Windsor, CO is the latest Nittany Lion commitment to drop the pledge. “It’s unfortunate I had to de-commit but I’m not ruling Penn State out,” O’Connor said. With the door open, O’Connor has welcomed USC and several others back into his space. He’s talked to USC recruiter Steve Spurrier Jr. and is considering USC for an official visit. “I’m keeping my options open and will try to figure out what I want to do after the season,” he said. “I haven’t scheduled any visit. I’m concentrating on my season for now.” O’Connor has taken an official visit to Penn State so he has four more to set up. Among the candidates are USC, Notre Dame, Utah, Tennessee and Purdue. And he said he will be looking for some of the same things that first attracted him to Penn State when he committed last June. “Their tradition was a huge part and the integrity of the coaches,” he said. “The whole campus and the university as a whole is amazing. That’s what drew me to Penn State. I’ll be looking now at the tradition and the brotherhood of the football program and the coaching staff.”
Out of the guys we have a chance with I'd put Banner, Stanley, and Diamond ahead of him.
In terms of chance to land? Or talent as a prospect?
Chance to land. I'm not sure about our shot with Diamond though.

We're in the mix with Banner but certainly don't have any sort of inside track. We will need some really big developments to make up ground there. Diamond I'd say we're squarely in the mix for but there's not a great chance we're ahead of Michigan at this point. Stanley is going to remain an anomaly until he visits (if he ever does).
I do agree that as things continue to shake out we might find ourselves moving into better and better shape for one of these guys... but right now I don't think I'd say we have a "better" chance with any of them because we don't really have a good (>50%) chance with any.
