Stanford's loss tonight likely closes the door on ND's remaining longshot at the BCS. On the plus side, they look beatable.

Well I'll take that b/c I already bought Champs Sports Bowl Tickets...:)

After watching the game I'm convinced that Luck may be the best NFL prospect since Manning. (His throw at 7:02 in the third qtr for example is one that 90% of NFL QB's can't make). But you can tell that he doesn't have the pieces -- his o-line stuggles against speed rushing, and his WR's just aren't that good (well Owusu's good but that's about it).

I think we got a great shot.

Lets not be stupid. We have a chance if we play the best game we have played since .... ever. We can win but it will take a prayer! I hope we keep it close.

Most teams look beatable when they're playing Oregon. Oregon's offense is a million times more potent than ours.

I'm just glad that I won't have to see that f***ing tree on the sidelines of the National Championship (or a Bronco - suck it Boise State!)

Am I the only one on this board who's sad about Boise losing? I was really hoping they would make the title game this year.

I wanted to see them run the table again so maybe they will come up with a different system then the BS or BCS that is.

They wouldn't deserve it even if they did.. They simply don't have a tough enough schedule. I have no sympathy for Boise St.

I would bet a great deal of money that Weis' 2007 team could have gone 9-3 against Boise St.'s schedule this season.

Sagarin's updated Predictor Model through 11/12/11 games makes ND a 9-1/2 point underdog in Palo Alto as of today.

We might have a chance if Cierre "Tiny Dancer" Wood decides to go North-South. Cal's putting it to them up front on this drive.

This weekend's results nicely summarize why I have always thought the people who say we "can't" beat Stanford don't know what they are talking about. Teams that have "no shot" win every weekend. It has happen to us; why can't it happen for us? I'm not guaranteeing victory, but I don't think it is hard to imagine ND winning next weekend. It wouldn't shock me.

When's the last time we've been blown out? I'd never count our team out in any game (except against maybe a top 3-4 team).

Last week Sagarin's Predictor Model has ND a 9-1/2 point underdog to SU in Palo Alto. This week's Predictor Model updated for SU's 3 pt win over CAL and ND's 2 pt win over BC now makes ND an 11.29, say 11-1/2 pt dog.

Cal was an 18 pt dog yesterday to SU while BC was a 24-1/2 dog to ND. So much for spreads.

Cal did get some bruising yds against The Tree but Jonas will be on crutches. He's ND's banger.

Being turnover free on Offense would help but ND's defense has to create turnovers. They didn't against BC. ND had a sack and a bunch of QB Hurries against BC but no INT and only 3 Passes Broken Up and NONE of those were by a DB. Lynch, Nix, and the much malaigned Calabrese had the PBU's.

Lynch and Nix may harass Luck but somebody has to snare his any hurried throws. In the post game presser Kelly commented on the extent of the walking wounded including Harrison being at the ND infirmary Friday night for illness. I think Blanton and Tuitt were mentioned as well. We need them all in top form with their best game of the season.

What will Stanford be ranked for our game with them next week?

Do they pass Ok State? Oklahoma? Clemson? Oregon?

Could they be #4 in the nation behind only LSU, Alabama, and Arkansas???

6th at best in my mind. They'll pass Clemson, and probably Oregon, and maybe Oklahoma. I don't think Oklahoma State will drop further than that. Just my opinion.

Side note: The SEC western division is ridiculous. 3 teams in the top 5? Really? Wow.

w/o Jonas Gray, ND has zero shot at beating Stanford. tommy would have to be magical and i don't see that hapening. also, stanford is way too balanced for our defense to stop. luck is going to shred us.

I wonder if the outcome of next Friday's LSU-Arky game will affect Stanford's mindset vs the Irish. Ie, if LSU wins, it pretty much locks Stanford out of any shot at the national title game, so might not Stanford maybe be looking past ND to the PAC 10 Conference title game? Or might I just be engaged in pathetic wishful thinking?
