And split reps with the likes of Mahone, Roberson, and/or Atkinson. He'll be the feature back here, but he certainly won't be the only one. The days of the back that rushes 30 times in a game are extinct.

Thats what i'm saying Crowell is doing work at georgia so why take second place behind a premiere back?

At ND he would be THE guy... How many schools have two superstar RB's at the same time?
Not saying he's going to be our only RB, but the reggie bush style speed back with Mahone etc. as the Hughes type power back...

Not that I disagree with you at all... But just to play devils advocate, how quickly do u see Kelly on the hot seat if he has another 8-4 season next year? (I deff wouldn't, I trust Kelly and Co.) but unfortunately I could see it happening. Hopefully I'm way off here, but Marshall could think that way as well

Odds are very strong that BK gets at least 5 years at ND. Even the most irrational ND fan will understand if we have a rough year in 2012.

Every Georgia fan I know believes they are just waiting for an excuse to fire Ritch. He seems like a great guy that has been there since 2001 and has brought in talent year after year (top 10 classes in 8 of the last 9 years) but has been unable to win when it counts and has disappointed the fan base.

What's bad is when you look where the program was before he got there. He's the reason they even expect success.

Agreed... the post Dooley era wasn't great...

Their fans still expect to win the next 3 games... Auburn and GT are not easy wins!

Where does Cierre Wood (on pace for nearly ~1,200 yards) this year play into all this?

Where does the tough schedule in 12 come into it? We should start out 4-0 with wins over Navy, Purdue, Michigan State (no Kirk Cousins) and finally beat Michigan at home! next is the U they don't scare me, Stanford with no Luck, BYU, Pitt, Wake & BC should all be wins. Which leaves us with at Oklahoma (no landry jones) and at USC!

I agree, I don't think the 2012 schedule is as daunting as it seemed at the start of this year.

Michigan scares me with Denard and Miami scares me. Miami will be in their second year with Al Golden and they have a ton of talent, more talent than ND will.

michigan state will be tough as always, as well as michigan. replace air force with byu, and byu is a much better opponent. replace south florida with miami, which is a tougher matchup, and replace maryland with oklahoma... on top of that pitt and wake were both extremely tough games for our team, and stanford will still be a top team even without luck. as well, look at our defense next year, our #1 corner is lo wood. yes the same lo wood who was badly burned in the usc game for a touchdown by robert woods... and how about our #2 corner? josh atkinson? freshman? yikes. and what if manti leaves? so many questions on defense, in addition to the harder schedule, all point to 2012 being a rough year.

Golden won't be there he will be at Happy valley no doubt if they come calling he is taking it! His contract states its the only program he can leave for! The key for ND will be to devlelop other skill players on the offense side of the ball minus Eifert & Wood!

But Keith Marshall won't solve those problems ;)

Not to mention the trouble Miami got in in Golden's first year.

Wood is a perfect senior RB to help bring Marshall up to CFB speed etc.. Crowell is a wild guy not to many RB freshmans have such presence... I feel one yr sharing roles with Wood then stepping his game up for a sophomore killer yr...

I understand we have a chance i'm just hoping for the best....

Good grief no more of this for me

Crowell easily runs between the tackles and with speed that's why he was the best RB last year...

Load up on great running backs as you can. Virginia Tech had THREE at the same time and wishes they had at least two this year. It doesn't really make much difference as to "style" as it's your whole offense which determines the success starting with the line play. You don't want only scat backs or only plow horses, but two Jonas Grays would be just fine by me. Also, the base Kelly spread asks the back to read and slash most of the time and Wood, Gray, Atkinson, McDaniel, Mahone, anyone named Marshall, Ayoola, etc etc can be mixed and matched on the playing chart just fine. We want talent, discipline, willingness to pick up the blitzer, and a little bit of size to go along with the second gear. That's what we've got now, and that's what we're recruiting. We're trying to max out where we can. If KMarshall's that guy, he'll get the reps no matter how much he looks like someone else.
