I was in Dillon and saw deontay and said hey.

He gave me a "slap five into a half chest bump''. Top that lol

In seriousness I had an awesome time, I also got to speak with Lynch for a good five minutes. Awesome guy.

You didnt experience the fear of God after your friend tells Aaron Lynch that you're actually a purdue student.

For a second I thought I was a goner... but I talked my way out of it and talked about the game. Awesome experience.

II missed the follow ups. @Me2SouthBend:

1. I was correcting beryirish, who had games mixed up. Not asking a question.
2. You are/were wrong, Shrine Bowl is between the Carolinas. Before you "correct" someone, it's probably a good idea to make sure your correction is... well... correct.

Just trying to clear up the confusion of the world game vs shrine game, and made the mistake that it was No v So, mea culpa. Wasn't being a wise ***.

Per B&G, during his visit from BK and Elston, the staff encouraged him to keep practicing snapping and learning the center position, and to "get used to it". This info, along with the fact that Hegarty was training at the position this year as well, makes me feel much better about the position going forward after Cave.

I still think Hegarty would be a beastly OT, but the staff knows a heck of a lot more than me. Lol.

IMO it is likely Mike won't be back, but idk if you can infer that just from this info. These two kids will be a RS Freshman and a true Freshman, and I wouldn't be that comfortable putting either of them (especially Harrell) in at C next year during meaningful minutes should anything happen to Braxton.

i was just thinking that golic did well in his 1st game and then downhill from there....hegarty being cross trained to be 2 deep at center is what i was referring too..leaving golic the odd man out...y keep his spot/scholly if u have people prepping for a backup role which he would have played...i get what ur saying from the info u provided...how could i come to that idea...but it has been my idea he wouldn't be asked back especially following performance at stanford

all i know is there was a drastic shift in our offensive line without cave, and golic is not the answer imo.

A few tidbits about Mark Harrell from the Shrine Bowl practices

@CraigHaubert
Saw #ND verbal Mark Harrell taking reps @ OG today @ Carolina Shrine Bowl practices - projected OT but guard may be a fit for him @ ND

@CraigHaubert
Seen him few times & Harrell has tools but needs to add bulk/improve pad level-Comes from run oriented O in HS & needs to develop pass pro

Harrell isn't even projected as a tackle for us. He's been practicing snapping because he will likely either be a center or a guard.

Nonetheless, he seems to clearly be a work in progress.

From Shrine Bowl Review:
Some players who had quiet weeks no doubt will go onto have very good college careers. Two that come to mind are athlete Jay Jay McCullough of Fort Mill Nation Ford (S.C.) and offensive lineman Mark Harrell of Charlotte Catholic (N.C.). Harrell, a Notre Dame pledge, started the week at right tackle but eventually moved inside, and had a fine outing Saturday. At 6-5, 270, Harrell has a tackle build, but appeared to look more comfortable at guard.

the OL is such a difficult position for a high school player once they start playing w/ the big boys..because they are used to being so much bigger than the dl they are going up against typically during the reg season...now when the bowl games come the def will have the first step which is why in the UA and AA games the DL players are so disruptive...he will be ok! time and weight room

Since early playing time is unlikely, barring injuries, good to hear that his future is strong. A pretty solid OL haul this season.

Harrell Has Shrine Experience

Christian McCollum, ISD
12/24/11

=========================

He's been getting a bunch of experience against the big dawgs and his education will continue. This summer he worked out at The Opening where he got his first experience with Zone Blocking. He plays in the Shrine Bowl tonight, the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl on 1/3/12 then the USA vs. The World Game in Feb.

ND Official on 1/20.

Mark Harrell tells me he'll play center at Notre Dame. Played a lot of TE last year in HS.

I suppose. Although we do lose a few OL. Maybe Golic remains the backup to Cave for depth? Harrell will just be a frosh. IDK.

Heggarty is supposedly taking center snaps and may take on the position capacity; I'm not certain he's the favorite to start next year though.

RT @bobwienekeisr: Mark Harrell tells me he's solid with ND. Should be talking with Ronnie Stanley soon.
