Our biggest senior leader is Harrison Smith and he's afraid to speak at pep rallies.

I can see Lynch becoming a very capable team leader in a few years, but we need someone on offense who can put a boot up the collective azzes when the time comes.

Well said by a fine Notre Dame man-what hurts a little is that many of us have said this for a few years. I call the man he is talking about a football player/street sense football/on campus to win football games. Notre Dame has its share of premiun talent-certainly enough to win. Hate to say it/dont want to say it/ but to me its playing soft. Kelly is waiting fellows and he cant play the game for you. The freshmen are doing the best they can and will lead when there time comes-Tuitt/Lynch will be leaders but you cant ask them to do it now. Someone has to get the message that this team needs to win the rest of its games and then a bowl game to make your talent match your results. I'd take what Gallipo and Barkly said to heart and make damn sure these play with crazed intensity the rest of the season. Now-9/3 is a must, now they've put themselves in the position of you must win out for this to be anywhere near a decent year. This team is very very good and its time they played like it.

My boy! That was awesome. Comes back to the culture and these guys just don't know how to win, the seniors that is. That's slowly changing with BK implementing his style into the program! Loved that clip!

Do we really need to point out what year the true seniors were freshmen? 2007. If that season wasn't enough to instill a losing attitude, I don't know what is.

I am not excusing it, but they didn't have much of an example to go off of when they arrived on campus. You can't just say, "Hey! Be a leader!" And have them go, "Okay!" BAM! It will change, but it will still take some time. I think it is starting to change with guys like Teo and Cave and some of the other more boisterous, vocal guys on the team. But I don't really see that mentality from any of the current seniors.

Its true what was said about leadership. Without leadership on the field and off, players will run around thinking that they are doing the right thing and look around trying to find someone to blame. A leader will make it know what mistake was made, how to correct it, and make sure that the error does not happern again.

With leadership, player know that a leader will be there to point out, correct, and the player will make sure that the error does not happen again. We have all heard about accountability, who should be accountable, and make applicable corrections when mistakes are made. I am not on the ND football team, however I have been part of teams where leadership is a must and when and if the appointed leader/s goes down the next guy steps in and makes things happen.

I'm sure that others have seen a lack of leadership on the field from this team and although it may be from the old arm chair, it is pretty noticable. Someone take charge, when in charge be in charge, lead from the from and by expamle, and never give up on your team.

I said basically the same thing in a different thread after the sc game (post game, concerning BK comments towards players). Its time players become accountable, its time players ante up.

They also need to stop being accustomed to "overcoming adversity". They need to KNOW that they will win, even during a game where they turn the ball over, even when the team is down by two or three td's. Again, someone step up, be the leader, shake the sh!t out of your team mates when they make a mistake but help them remedy the situation. PLEASE, for the love of all that is HOLY! LEAD LEAD LEAD!

We DO have some players who could do this now. Who in their right mind wouldn't respond if Braxton Cave got in their face? Mike Floyd could rise to this. Even Jonas Gray could do so now that he's not carrying any personal embarrassment. That's offense. On defense, even if they're hurt, EJ and KLM should be doing this. People like Harrison Smith, Robert Blanton, Manti Te'o all have the street creds, but none of them have the personality.

In my first year on this board, when I finally decided to make a controversial post, I began being an irritation [I suppose] by stating my belief that the team had no leadership whatsoever that could be noticed either between plays or on the sidelines. I NEVER saw an angry offensive guy walking across the face of the bench yelling at his teammates to get the fog out of their heads. Armando Allen was the only on-field guy that I noticed who seemed to get really pissed during a bad series by us. [One of the reasons I admired him so much].

I think that this is just really bad luck, that not one individual with the playing credibility has the personality to get in everyone else's faces. And...I don't see it coming. MAYBE Cave or Martin will grab the offense by the throat. MAYBE KLM will do it next year. Waiting on Lynch is a fantasy for a while at least. He's full of life and roaring energy but that does not necessarily translate into leadership, especially as a sophomore. Manti is also full of life and roaring energy --- he just can't get angry with his own guys. And our QB situation doomed us to nothing there.

Meanwhile: three cheers and a twenty-one gun salute to Aaron Taylor. RIGHT on, big man!
