Cierra's weight gain makes me a little bit nervous. Didn't Armando Allen pack on some pounds only to immediately trim them the next season so he could be more effective?

If Jonas Gray can be relied upon it makes our running back depth a lot less scary. Still scary, but a lot less scary than before.

I'm not sure about Armando, but Cierre was told to lose a lot of weight when Kelly first took over. Of the exact numbers I'm not sure, but Wood packed on a lot of of pounds during his redshirt year.

Gaining 5 pounds shouldn't be a big deal. He's probably settling into what should be his ideal playing weight. His last two years he'll likely be a 220-225 back.

Cierre messed up is what happened. He came into ND wanting to be bigger, and he ballooned to 225, and not in a purely yoked up kind of way (he was stronger, but the weight was proportioned incorrectly). As you said, Kelly wanted him slimmer, and it helped. Now his weight is up again, but I don't see it as bad weight like before. The # concerned me when I first heard it because of his past issues, but I'm sure Longo has him putting on good weight.

^ Cool picture.

I wish our players could cut that well inside the Stadium.

Also, those shorts are pimp with the logo and number.

Is it unreasonable to think that Gray will finally break out in 2011?

He was a consensus 4:s: coming in, and Rivals rated him as the 4th best RB in 2008. He got lost in a crowded backfield early on, but averaged 5 ypc in 2010.

I won't be shocked if Jonas looks better than Cierre at times late in games, just due to the D being gassed...He is looking T-U-F-F TUFF!

If those numbers are for real, that's Trent Richardson-esque.

Just needs to hold on to the ball and not make stupid mistakes late in those games. He's always had it in him and I have to love a fellow detroiter

So Jonas Gray felt compelled to let Irish coach Brian Kelly know: That was the most points he ever had seen on that scoreboard.

"He looked at me and said, 'We're just getting started,'" Gray said.

BOOM!

He's on pace for over 800 yards, which is about twice as much as I thought he would have.

This is both suprising and not suprising for me I was excited for him coming out of high school big and fast and could run the ball... ran into fumble problems throughout his career but he definitely does have the talent to be an awesome runningback. He is more explosive than hughes and almost as good as running people over he is a great back for the system great to have him step up this year

Nothing against Cierre, he is also having a productive season, but I actually get more excited when Jonas has the ball. It just seems like he is hitting every right hole, bursting through it and using great footwork.
