Geez, we have horrible fans. Two games and everyone is jumping ship. I'm confused by the loses as much as anyone, but I'm not ready to start comparing him to Weis and call for his job.

I agree. It's unfortunate that we had the turnovers. If we didn't these games wouldn't have been close. It's not Kelly's fault an outstanding goal line stand causes a fumble and bounces right to the QB. It's not Kelly's fault Rees loses the grip on the football as they are about to score. If either one of those flukes doesn't happen, the Irish win and no one is standing on the ledge.

I agree. Let the season play out and give this guy some time. He doesn't have his prototypical qb in there yet. This lose was bad, but how soon we forget Weis's shortcomings. Of course, if we lose to Navy again then perhaps I'll change my tune.

Kelly hasn't had a prototypical qb in years. LeFevour maybe. Tony Pike, hell no. Collaros was perfect for his system. However, Pike tore it up and was pretty much as far as you can get from Kelly's ideal qb. He had no mobility. So i don't place any value in that argument. And Weis' shortcomings are foremost in many minds because this is a lot like Weis' latter years. A high-powered offense that craps itself in the red zone. However, after further thought, we have to remember this is the early part of only the 2nd year. While I think the "players don't know how to win" statement is purely bull$hit rhetoric, we should give him more time to fully implement the system. But they'd better humiliate Michigan next year.

Player execution is absent at times.......anyone who watched the game saw it. They looked great and then something stupid would happen. Im not jumping ship on Kelly because I saw things the last 2 weeks that were good that havent happen since Holtz was coach. If we can take care of the careless stupid mistakes I think we beat the crap out of everyone.

The guys will pull together.

So true. The final stats obscure the fact that our D basically shut down Denard for most of the game. If they can keep that up for 4 quarters and if the offense capitalizes in the red zone, this team can be as good as they were hyped up to be.

The only place I heard that our defense was going to be any good was on IE. Pre-season speculation was our defense was still suspect. Recruiting was good for the D but, they really won't be part of it until next year. I know we have some good players but this info was based on last years last five games. I have watched a couple of shows on College Football Live and they have pretty much said the same thing as a Couple of CBS/NBC analyst that the defenses was supposed to be better but they haven't lived up to that expectation. Although, 10 turnovers and 160 yards in penalties in two games doesn't help either.

Our defense was statistically best in the nation over the last four games of 2010. It's not a baseless Kool-Aid inspired opinion that circulated on this board, but an objectively verifiable fact.

I'm not surprised it hasn't been touted by most sports media "analysts"; most of what they put out is little more than hand-waving generalization, and when they do use stats, they disregard SoS.

Even after the two losses, those few worthy commentators who take the time to analyze our games via advanced metrics have recognized that we're playing like a top-20 team; 10 specific plays (the TOs) are the only thing holding us back.

No respect for Kelly

No respect for Kelly

Kelly needs to stop yelling at the players after every play that doesn't go his way. And what's with his dropping the F bomb in their faces on national TV???

How can we expect the players to respect him with that ****-poor attitude of his?

If he doesn't get it together real soon, he is outta here!

WE ARE ND! Go Irish!

It seems you've posted this a lot recently. And in a bunch of variations.

We will have to start making our own variations if this continues the way it has been going.

Probably a fan. He didn't make a trolling post about a 11 day old issue that Kelly addressed in a press conference and several interviews, did he?

Ha, I'm proud to be a rude New Yorker!

It's not Notre Dame football? Were you alive to watch the Holtz years? I was. Iv'e been a die-hard fan since 1985, please refrain from questioning my fan-hood again.

Not only did Holtz yell at his players but he grabbed facemasks to lay the point home.. and there is a statue of him on the Notre Dame campus. It's not Notre Dame football?

I'll tell you what Notre Dame football is NOT. It's not this idealistic, holier than though approach to the game like you think it is. If that's the case, then why don't we have one of the priests just coach it. Notre Dame is a special place with values and a history that is revered world-wide.. No doubt, that is what I love about the place.

But on the field.. on ANY field.. football is still football. The coaches will yell and scream when their players are failing to succeed at the basics! These kids need to be disciplined and taught how to focus and execute at a championship level.

He might be rude but elements of his point are accurate. Good coaches tend to have teams that make few mistakes. I played for two HS coaches and there was a major shift from one to the other.

That said, I believe things will change in few days.

I would assume, love that word, this is where the confrusing point is for the analyst; a couple of misplays on the DBs and UM wins and they take the defensive side of the ball-play away from the Irish..........has nothing to do with 10 turnovers in two games? - right.

As you do, I believe in this defense and Kelly. This board believed in realistic goals of 9-3, 8-4, and we are still on track for that but since the -3, and -4, already is filling up, ....there is no hope ~ B/S, We can still make a bowl presence, we can also keep building from here on.

Even a BCS game isn't out of the question yet. If we beat State, I believe we'll be 4-2 heading into the SC game. If we beat SC, we could easily be 9-2 heading into the Stanford game with a chance to play our way into a BCS bowl.

9-3 and a Champs Sports Bowl berth is still solid improvement from last season.

This team is better overall than any I've watched over the last decade. BK clearly has us heading in the right direction.

Oh, and Kirk Herbstreit likes us better after watching the UM game than before it.

Better to lose early than late. People forget your early season miscues, especially if you lose to decent opponents and turn the ball over something silly.

I still think we are BCS bowling at 9-3. It will **** some people off and we may not deserve it but they will find a way to bring in ND if they can. Wins cure a lot and a strong showing vs. Stanford will reinforce our legitimacy.

Herby can eat me after his low class hissy fit comment on the air. He had some bad bias against us all night and was down right giddy any time Michigan did any thing right (rather got lucky).

This might be my new favorite place on the web. New to the forum but certainly not a new fan.

We're 0-2. And we're better than we've been in a really long time. I know there's some cognitive dissonance there, but isn't that exactly what we wanted when we fired CW and hired BK? To get better?

Building a consistent winner is going to take some time, and by all rights, BK is ahead of the game. He's certainly outpacing my expectations.

I wanted to post this in one of the "Is it OK for Kelly to Yell at Players" threads, but it looks like they've all been locked.

Go here and jump ahead to 13:10. Watch how he interacts with TJ Jones on the sideline after his TD.

BK really loves these kids. Haters need to GTFO.

These Irish connection videos are special. God, what I would do to be on that sideline.. Horrible, unthinkable things.

Nice pick-up Whiskey, BK definitely loves these kids and just wants all their hard work to pay off.

Here is something that I want BK to do. Start tailoring his scheme around his talent aka the o line and the running game. I am not a fan of first down passing when you have a beast line which we do have the potential to do.

Step your game up like I know you will and let's get this thang.

Think about this. Kelly's total record at ND 8-7 including a bowl game against Miami. He has tons of players returning and we are at 0-2. Is that acceptable? How do we look back at CW fired as head coach? Why was CW fired? his records at ND set him fired. It was not okay for CW. Okay for Kelly? I know the big difference between Kelly and CW is the defense.

Kelly's 8-7 record tells me it's not worth to fire CW. CW could get us about the same or maybe better. Kelly needs to clean up real fast or it will hurt the recruiting class next year. We have to win the rest of the season to send a strong message. He said we could go for a national championship this year, because he felt Notre Dame was much better than last year and ready to have an undefeated season then now we are at 0-2. Now Kelly is saying we are in the right direction and we will get better. Do we really trust his talk? I rather he don't talk about the team until he show the results first. If he wins this weekend and the next several games then he can say, "We are heading in a right direction. We will be a good football team". Then we will believe him. You can't say that if you are at 0-2 until you start winning first.

MY letter to Brian Kelly:

Coach,

I have to admit I've spent the last two Saturdays and well into Sunday basically cussing your name and questioning some of your decisions, but I know your OK with that because you're one of us, you're a HUGE part of our Irish family (I mean that because of your position, I'm not calling you fat), and being part of a family, especially ours, can be tough sometimes......you don't even wanna know some of the things I've done to my brother when I was pissed at him.

I know, you know better than anyone the very high expectations that come with being the Head Coach at Notre Dame. You know our history, you know we have one of the highest winning percentages in College football history ( Approx .732), some of our greatest coaches have been north of .800....one was even over
.900. Those are amazing statistics, but you knew all that when you signed up for this.

There are some who say we shouldn't cuss ya. I say it just makes you part of the family and since your family, I have to give you some family talk................

Look Brian, The worlds not gonna come to an end if we lose on Saturday, but your gonna F'n wish it had if we do. Unfortunately for you, besides all of my normal desires to win, I've committed to giving up beer for two months if we lose to Michigan St. Your an intelligent man, you know that when an Irish family says they're going on vacation, that just means they're going to a different Pub. So, don't make me go with out my beer!

In short Coach......you better smash the chit outta those Spartans!!!!!!

Love, Bob
