This kid is a long shot.

But after last year's dream haul (Lynch, Tu-tu, Predator) I will never give up on a recruit.

I wouldn't call being in a kids top 7 a long shot.

+1

After seeing what coach Kelly's staff is capable of, you can't rule ND out with anyone...

Not a long shot at all. Would not put him in my high category but he does have interest in ND.

It seems as though it has become de rigueur to say someone is a long shot. It shows you are impartial in your analysis, not like those cool-aid sipping buffoons.

Now a 5 star and #1 WDE in the updated 24/7 rankings.

Wow. Would he be content to sit behind KLM and Lynch in 2012? 5:s:s typically expect to play right away.

Even if he has a change of heart about playing OLB, he'd likely be behind Ishaq for most of his career.

I'm sure we'd find a way to get him a good amount of playing time. Either way, this is a great problem to have. I don't remember ever being concerned about not getting a 5* defensive recruit due to depth. Soo sweet.

Truth. At the two positions he'd most likely play, we have a pair of 5:s: freshman and an NFL-bound Junior. Praise Jeebus!

It is really exciting to have the talent and depth at these positions that we have lacked for such a long time. I would love to add Noah to the mix as well.

I see there is an article on Spence on II. Can someone please give me a summary of the article and where ND stands?

What game is he going to official for? Maryland game would be a good one. Didn't Ishaq visit for Army last year?

He came out with a Top 7...I don't believe he setup an official with ND.

I think Ishaq made it to the game...I may be wrong
I know that Ishaq and Savon Huggins were suppose to go to the game and I think Savon is the one who couldn't make it

I don't think those off site home games can be used as official visits, or at least the coaching staff can't have any contact with recruits that are there. I vaguely remember BK answering questions about that in the week before the Army game.

Yeah, how could it be an official visit if you are not actually visiting? Darby for one is using his official for MSU, and then coming to the Maryland game unofficially.

Getting "two" visits would be great if Spence goes to the Maryland game and OVs.

Works as a plus then. Unfortunate the families foot the ticket prices.

Correct! Official visits are to the school. to the campus. A home game may be the focus of the trip to fans but it isn't to the NCAA. The prospect is supposed to be learning about the school.

I can't cite a rule but like mike recall do Kelly noting that off campus recruiting restrictions apply to games off campus whether at neutral sites or opponent's sites.

I think when ND played WSU in Texas a few years back (the beginning of Dayne's knee injuries) there were tons of recruits from all over and especially Texas but I don't think Charlie or the staff was allowed to talk to them.

If the neutral site games could be used, it might be a nice hook to say "We'll see you in Dublin for the Navy game and it's on us."

Pretty sure his biggest turn off with ND is the 3-4 defense and last years recruiting haul. Will be a tough pull but he is talented enough for the staff to follow it all the way through.

That's my impression as well. At the two positions he's likely to play, he'd end up sitting behind a :5:s freshman and an NFL-bound senior who will remain eligible in 2012, or a 5:s: and a 4:s: freshman at a position he claims to not want to play (which I can't understand for the life of me; Cat OLBs get all the glory in a 3-4).

At most other schools, he'd have a good shot at playing immediately.

Says he had a great trip to Penn State. Father said the visit "couldn't have gone any better". He will make his decision around the Under Armour All-American Game.
