This is one of my favorite recruits as well. My favorite two are B Marshall and Mahone. This is really good news too. It's nice that he is taken an unofficial to Notre Dame because for me that shows a real genuine interest on his part. Hope he gets the visit in and has a great time!

Agreed. If we get just 1 of them, I will be very happy.

See what happens when I say I like a player?

Everyone hops on the bandwagon.

I really like Byron. His strengths (listed by scout) are the same as Keith Marshall, acceleration, change-of-direction, & vision. Also, his weaknesses are William Mahone's strengths. His power &toughness. Byron and Mahoney would be the perfect one, two punch. THE DYNAMIC DUO!!!

My favorite RB in this class. Probably not as good as the other Marshall, but I think we have a better shot at landing Byron. Absolutely huge that he is flying all the way out from CA on his own dime to see what ND has to offer. He won't commit on the trip, but this news puts up squarely in the ballgame with him...

If he likes his unofficial, I wouldn't put it past him to commit. Of course, I'm no "recruitnik" like you guys.

Question, and I am not trying to be a jerk, i'm honestly curious..... why do many of you think that its a long-shot for him to commit on his visit? Was there something that he said before that makes you dudes feel this way?

I think it's just well deserved skepticism/doubt. Why would we ever land a phenomenal RB like Byron?

Note: I used Comic Sans MS as a sarcasm font...

Bryon is saying that if the unofficial goes well, then he will set up an official. That hardly sounds like someone who would commit on the unofficial.

Everything i have read says he wants to decide late in the game and be thorough. He is all about the west coast, except ND. He seems to have very real interest in Notre Dame but this visit seems to me more about making him comfortable about ND before going all out on his OV.

Premium sites that he's had interviews with. I mean, it obviously could happen and me speaking in absolutes shouldn't be taken literally (but I probably shouldn't have said it so definitively). But from he talks about, like others have said, he's coming to just to SEE of ND will get an OV. He's a thorough dude, and there are other schools that he really wants to see up close.

I'd LOVE to be wrong here...

Late in the ND-USC game would be a wonderful time to pull the trigger. :) It's pretty crucial that Notre Dame gets Mahone and one of the Marshalls.

Snatched this from wearesc. Don't know the original source.

San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian running back Byron Marshall is in the process of setting up official visits with fall just around the corner. Sitting comfortably with a couple of Pac-12 schools and Notre Dame at the top his list, Marshall received what he described as a "dream offer" this Wednesday, a scholarship offer to play football for the USC Trojans.
