Josh Atkinson been doing very well.

KAP has been balling.

Tuitt came in and is a freak as is Rabasa.

Cant say Ive heard one thing bad about anyone...but at the sametime its summer. But, Eilar is a very very good football player.

I eat this sh!t up, I really do. Love this stuff, and thanks.

Having said that, we hear that every year. Every single year, and every year it's the same result once the season starts. So and so is bigger than ever! So and so is unblockable! So and so cannot be stopped, no matter who checks him! Wash, rinse, repeat.

But with the way we finished the season at an all-time high for these players, this time the reports might actually have some merit. Cheers!

totally agree... though at SOME POINT, SOMEONE on defense is going to come in and actually do BETTER than expected for their career... instead of the oppostie over and over and over, when was the last time that really happened??? damn, it's been a bad decade.

Five points that throw traditional recuruiting (and coaching) out the window. This won't be the same ND team as we left off with last fall. Can you immaging how this all is going to play out with next years recruits? The following years?

Damn lol took you all of 4 mins to get back to me. Thanks for the info. Obviously feel more than free to post more news/updates if you hear them. Not surprised about Atkinson, I always thought he was underrated.

Eilar will be a good player. He is a tall athletic safety. He needs to get stronger and a little bigger but he will be in the conversation to be a starter in the future.

I don't know how he'll do it, but I'm semi-desperate to see Diaco get Hardy, Atkinson, Jackson, Collinsworth, Brown, Wood [whoever are best best looking "three" among those] some real game time this fall. Maybe I'm way out of touch, but D-Backs really seem to need the on-the-field full-speed against-the-strange-opponent's-surprises experience to play confident defense in that toughest position. What we heard about Hardy all along was that he was a real gem.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that he will be more than just in the conversation to be a starter. He'll have a great chance to start in 2012, and I would guarantee at least two years of starting.

Ya dig?

^ This.

As much as I try to ignore it, I can't do it. The defense seems to finally have depth and star power. I'm getting antsy...

Is Hardy really destined for S? He seems to be an all-purpose Nickelback like Slaughter; big enough to play S, but athletic enough to play CB as well.

S doesn't look nearly as scary as CB; Motta and Slaughter will both return a lot of experience at S in 2012, but our CBs will be Jackson and Wood-- two guys whose only experience at the position will end up being whatever Kelly can put together for them this season.

So, any chance that Hardy see reps at CB this season instead of S?

I thought it was assumed that he would play safety. Then I distinctly remember Chuck Martin or Elston...or someone say on NSD that he would get first crack at corner.

Then, didn't someone from the staff say during the spring he'd be playing safety to start out?

Maybe moving Jackson and then Farley played a part in the apparent safety-corner-safety switch???

Hey, no ever said we don't think too much about this stuff.

Hey, no ever said we don't think too much about this stuff.

The nice part about 2012 is that the front 7 will be so dominant, people are going to have to throw in a big hurry. That will help the DBs a lot. On the other hand the DBs are going to be the soft spot on the defense, so they will be attacked.

I have always thought that Hardy should start as a corner and move to safety later, just like GAIII is starting at RB and should move to WR if we sign some depth this year.

The fact is that Lo Wood and B.J. are going to be it in terms of upper-class CBs in 2012. That means, TWO of Josh Attkinson, Jalen Brown, Tee Shepherd (hopefully signs and then enrolls early), Darby (hopefully), and someone else (hopefully) will have to play.

I think the risk-averse things to do is up the odds by training Eliar this year at CB. If someone else emerges before the first game in 2012, move him to safety. I would also keep Farley at safety, so what do I know!

Eilar is natural at safety...good hips...good change of direction...and chooses fundamentals over a potiental killshot. Has almost elite speed. Wouldnt put him in darbys class but hes the step below. He needs 10lbs of good weight before 2012 to go through a whole yr. Hes bigger than Slaughter now. I think he will have a similiar role/production that bennett had this yr on sp teams. If all goes well team wise, we will get a good look at him in mop up time. He has that emotion that ND has lacked as well, pretty fired up kid on the field

I agree 100% that he projects better/very high at safety, I just think our roster might dictate his moving to CB for the short term. The lack of weight is less of a big deal at CB too.

Yep this is even worse than my man crushes on Tracy Howard and Chris Mangus

But seriously I think TP is very close to Hardy

Shoot you caught me....

But i am not the only one excited about ND getting Eilar. A mod on a "pay" site has also stated that Eilar COULD end up being the best NFL prospect when its all said and done.

Pair him with say.....Shaq Thompson...thats a pretty badass secondary :)

Thompson and Hardy at safety with Tee and Darby at corner. That is one scary secondary.

I for one think that our DBs will suprise alot of ppl this year. They have a great position coach and a chip on their shoulder. WRs better keep their head on a swivel...

I am not doubting it- I really just have no idea. Are are people expecting Badger to be good. No doubt he can put a hit on you, but can he run?
