I was really getting a bad vibe here personally... good to be wrong ( and hopefully stay that way) here

First Ishaq, then Darby, and now Greenberry? I just think it's sweet that we're going to have some players with dreadlocks... It looks badass.

I prefer field performance to appearance myself. A guy should look like he wants to for his own self [within limits] but not because he's thinking about other people looking at him. That actually is a weakness. [it can even be a team-building weakness if he is using stuff as a "self" featuring effect rather than team].

I remember an old self-featuring defensive back [for the KC Chiefs??] who bragged about himself as "The Hammer", with certain strutting appearance elements for effect. In the championship game the Lombardi Packers zeroed in on him, blasted him several times, and the guy actually lay down and quit. The Packers were laughing on the sidelines, and his teammates were embarrassed.

Is an athlete confident in what he's "bringing" or not?? I know that I and my four brothers just responded to that sort of posturing by getting a little more "dedicated" to sending "posers" to the bench. If a guy is "authentic", OK; usually you can tell the difference pretty quickly. I'm sure that our guys tend to be authentic about these things, or, if not, are growing out of them. So, I'm alright with them choosing their personal "style" as long as it does not detract from focus on the actual job, nor the fact that we are a team.

p.s. that DB fairly quickly retired and went into what his real profession was: acting. [he wasn't great at that either but at least he was in his element.]

p.p.s. By the way, I'm sure that anyone that Coach has offered is a fine young man and is above the egocentrism referred to above. Deontay Greenberry will undoubtedly be a wonderful guy on campus and a great teammate. That's who "we" are.

Don't say that too loud...Preston Jackson might try and re-apply. I'm not sure my heart could handle that pain all over again.

Thanks for the memories of someone who couldn't , and I mean absolutely could not cover a beach ball rolling down the damn field. What a joke of a CB.

Jackson is the first ND player I can recall being referred to as a "Predator", and I posit that he may have ruined the term for all eternity.

Ishaq and Deontay will bring it back baby! Unlike Danny Glover and Gary Busey's attempts to bring it back in Predator 2.

Nice write-up --- nice young man. Really looking forward to him and Davaris Daniels jumping over everybody else's heads for touchdowns.

Welcome to the Irish family Deontay Greenberry, a nice pick up by the Irish, and a nice assist from Tee 'The Good' Shepard.

Why did that just remind me of this scene from Pulp Fiction? WARNING: several expletives.

I don't know if you guys saw, but the Rivals positional rankings are out. Deontay checks in at #17. Not bad.

ESPN is outta their minds ranking him that low. I said it once and I'll say it again, he will be a Rivals 100 player before it's said and done.

Didn't ESPN have an article raving about both Greenbery and Shepard? And still a 3 star? strange....

What is it with ESPN?

It seems like they're always soooo out of touch with the other sites.

No idea. A lot of people have said they overrate guys that go to their All-American game or remain uncommitted with "top schools" chasing. I personally think Rivals does the best job in their "final" assessments and ESPN does a really good job on their "initial" assessments of their top 200 or so. Once they get outside of the top 30 or so in a position they stop giving a **** and are all over the place.
