Nope. No way Kolb is worth that either lol.

I believe the Cardinals end up with McNabb or Bulger.

The Kolb rumor has been all over the place (ESPN, ESPN Radio, Msg Boards, etc). Maybe its just speculation though. I would think that the Cardinals brass would be smarter than that, but its the NFL after all.

sidenote - If that trade did take place, the Eagles would have had a fantastic draft class to add to their already young/talented team. Plus, they have Vick, who has some quality years left in him (he's 30, so maybe 4-5?).

I still have to see Vick play up to last year's level long term before i believe it can be done... for all the talk about the guy, last year was the first year in his career you could make any case he was an elite QB... and no I'm not a Vick hater at all... just sayin.

I don't get it...how did Ian Williams not get drafted? There must be something we don't know about. This is really strange. I feel bad for the kid, he can't even sign an undrafted free agent contract.

Unless some unknown redflag popped up in background or drug test or interviews, which I very much doubt, I'd think it has to do with medical. He should get a look as a FA at least, so all is not lost.

True, but who knows when he'll be a FA...In a normal year he would already have signed with a team. Now he has no job and has to sit and wait.

Injuries seem to be the popular answer. Nobody's entertained the possibility that he simply wasn't good enough to be drafted.

1 player drafted, ouch.

Ouch, indeed.

Next year should be better. Floyd is a guaranteed draft pick (barring another alcohol incident), Robinson could be a late round draft pick (Sam Young was drafted in the 6th, and Robinson is a better OL than Young), Hayseed should get drafted in the later rounds (maybe earlier, but I don't buy this potential All-American hype he's getting). If Fleming has a good season, I could see him going as high as the 3rd round (6'2", 250, explosive 3-4 rush OLB). Gary Gray should be drafted. Ethan Johnson might be a late rounder.

Thanks for jinxing our entire group of seniors ;)

You didn't pay close enough attention then. Forget the abomination that was Tenuta's defense. Hayseed was PHENOMENAL last season, especially from the Navy game on. He's a much better athlete than McCarthy, and he got drafted. If Hayseed plays like he did last season, and I expect him to play even better, he'll be an AA candidate and he'll get drafted higher than the later rounds. Later rounds should be an at-worst scenario.

(And I'm not a big believer yet in our secondary, but I am a huge believer in H. Smith.)

I'm not sure Riddickulous isn't on to something here. We played our best ball defensively with Ian onn the sidelines this year. I wonder if scouts took notice. If that's the case s unfortunate for him, because he's good enough to play in the league IMO.

Along those lines I don't understand how someone gets a 3rd/4th round draft grade... Mayock gives him a 4th/5th round grade... they start talking about him coming off the board in the early 4th on TV... and then poof he doesn't get drafted in roughly the ~120 remaining picks.

I think the biggest problem is measurables > production in tons of GM's minds. That is why you see Greg Jones drop all the way to the 6th round even though he was the best ILB in the Big Ten for two years in a row. GM's would rather take a flyer on a kid who they know nothing about but has great "upside" then a proven "above average" commodity.

That's why you see a bunch of under-performing kids from USC get drafted in rounds 6-7... because they were highly rated recruits with good measureables that 'should' be better than they are. There is no way that you can tell me that USC had NINE NFL players on that team last year (in addition most of their best skill players that are underclassmen like Woods and Barkley) and they were that bad. I won't be surprised if Greg Jones makes a roster and has a career like London Fletcher but I will be SHOCKED if any of the late round USC kids besides Havili and maybe Rojo even makes a 53.

we agree on a lot of things in terms of Notre Dame football... and I agree Smith improved... but an All American, high draft pick??? ugh... File me under "believe that when I see it," on that one.

Back on the Ian Williams topic, here's what pisses me off:
Cowboys talk to Notre Dame DT Williams - Dallas Cowboys Blog - ESPN Dallas

and then here is the Cowboys' draft: 2011 NFL Draft Results by Team - National Football League - ESPN

The other guy the Cowboys talked to in this article? 1st round pick to the Browns.

I think Ian got hurt by being "one dimensional" and an "over achiever." No matter what I think he lands with a team and probably makes a roster... but it's just sad that so many people - analysts and teams alike - told him he was going to get drafted sooner rather than later and he didn't get picked at all. The same kind of stuff happened to Tom Brady if you watch the little documentary piece on him... he and his family said they were lead to believe 2nd or 3rd round by all kinds of people... and then he doesn't go until the end of the 6th.

The one thing that should keep his head up is that of the top 100 players (as ranked by the players) currently in the NFL... there are as many that were undrafted free agents as there are that were second round picks. This is not an end, it is just a beginning.

1: Yesterday someone told me a stat, that 23 of the 2011 Pro Bowl players were undrafted free agents. Not sure how accurate that is, but that's what someone told me.

2: Another person said the Colts have the most undrafted free agents (either most on their roster, or most starting).

I think there are between 6-8 teams that want Ian as a free agent. It's just a matter of whenever the lockout ends. That will be his day.

Oh, and the quote about not an end, just a beginning. BINGO

not getting drafted does not change the talent level of Ian, Walls, Allen and others guys... it is not that big a deal... either way they were gonna have to prove it in training camp or hit the road... they are still the same guys and will have to eanr it regardless... time will tell.
