sounds like he pulled a stunt by putting the UNC hat on first then switching it with the Rutgers one. Hence the reason alot of the first reports were that he had chose UNC.

P.S. Just wanted to add this link not because of the article but because of the picture in it. If his blocking was like that all year I could see how he got so many yards. Lol

Whatever.. I was never expecting him to come here to begin with. I am so stoked about this class as it is and not worried about the RB situation at all. A powerhouse OL will make most good RB's look great... and that's what BK and PL are creating.

The writing has been on the wall for the entire period. His father was concerned that we were a spread team, and Savon seemed to be concerned with how he would fit as well. Best of luck to the young man.

True, now he just has to hope that he can hold up physicaly to beating he is going to take as schiano's bell cow.

I haven't thought we'd get Huggins for at least a good 6 weeks when things seemd to turn against us (looked good there for a while) ... and I never thought we'd get Drew... but after this recruiting season I wasn't writing anyone off until the last moment...

hell, not sure I would until NSD to be honest...

I don't like the spread. ND is at an awkward moment offensively. Timing in the running game was way off. Fast backs ran into walls. Actually, I hate this spread offense running game. Hit and miss. Watch videos of Holtz coached teams and watch the line blocking. Allowed for north/south running of fast strong backs.

Watch the line blocking. Stare at it and compare to the mess of this past few year's running game farce.

I'm not too concerned about Huggins, as long as we sign everyone we have committed now, this class will be a monumental success.

+1 I'm still old school, the spread just doesn't have the "shove this, my man is bigger than your man" as the option or fullback/tailback/2 TE formation. I'm trying to be open minded about it.

NOOO HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!! I totally thought he was coming here!! Upsetting.. I didn't think he was going to be that great anyway. We have Cam coming in and I think he will fit better in our system. Hope he regrets this decision forever!!!

.... are we not on melt down mode for this one?

.....sorry....

Best of luck Huggins! Hope he does good at Rutgers!

If anyone is actually surprised by this then you have not been paying attention. He had Rutgers as his first choice for awhile now. I have no hard feeling against. I hope he has a great time there and hope he is successful.

Running back

Running back

It wasnt a primary need this year, We took care of are main needs and if the class stays as is we are in great shape. Once are offense get rolling next year we will get a top five back every other year. Good luck Savon, I have to give you props for being pretty upright and honest thru the whole process.

I wish Savon luck, but does this make sense to anyone else?
I understand wanting to play right away....but if he's as good as most people think, what makes him think he wouldn't be able to play right away at ND? I understand not wanting to go to UNC with upcoming sanctions...but this recruitment puzzles me.
Why would you want to be a starting RB on a bottom-feeding Big East team that cant even win their own conference?Their academics don't match ours, nor their facilities. He also was quoted as wanting a religious school...how does that not fit with us?

I don't think anything bad of the kid, and really hope he does well in his college career. But I am flabbergasted to be honest.Still VERY happy with our recruiting class.

Even if Savon would've committed to ND I didn't see him starting over Cierre; at least in 2011. ND will definitely need to go after a runnning back for the 2012 class.

go get em Savon.
I'm happy for the kid, he made the choice he wanted and that's that. This should not surprise anyone, as stated above, because he has been a Rutgers lean for-e-ver.

I'd say the Irish are gonna go really hard after the elite RB's in this class and sign 2 studs.

Wish this fine young man the very best at Rutgers. We all kind of saw this coming so it is of no big surprise really and the kid handeled the recruiting process pretty well. Would have loved to have landed him as I am sure most of us would have loved that, but we have a fantastic class and I am sure we will snag a high profile running back in the future.
