Wow. Just great work, and did not expect it, certainly not so soon. Great judgment getting to him quickly.

I'll be holding my breath on this one, just because the young man seems under a lot of pressure, but this is great work.

I still find it hard to believe he'd rather go to Tech than ND. Aside from the playing at home factor and the weather, I just don't see the advantage -- in all other ways -- talent around him, playing on a bigger stage, better chance for future success, upwardly moving program (with a higher ceiling), education (unless he wants to be an engineer) -- ND is the better place for him.

I wish him peace. I hope he means it when he says he's 100%. I doubt he'll regret it, if he stays, but for a kid, it's a lot of pressure.

From his mom. SIAP

“I never changed my mind in the first place,” she said of her son de-committing to Notre Dame. “Stephon did. The reason he was wavering back and forth all boils down to him not wanting to hurt anybody’s feelings. He had developed relationships with all these coaches and didn’t want to disappoint them. But somebody’s going to have to be disappointed and today it’s Georgia Tech. Tomorrow it’s going to be Georgia Tech and the next day it’s going to Georgia Tech because recruiting stops now.”

I sure hope he gets over this fear of disappointing coaches. I look forward to him disappointing coaches for the next four years -- Coach Kiffen, Coach Hoke, Coach D'Antonio, Coach Niumatalolo, Coach Edsell......

Let GT say what they want. Plain and simple, they never had him.

Sounds like Tuitt let some voices around him influence him. In his heart, he was always coming here. The guy was our best recruiter at the Army All American game!

my stone to throw on the pile: welcome, heartfelt welcome, young man!! You are going to be the straw that stirs the drink for the Irish defense. It's been a while since I've seen such a natural disrupter as you. Don't fear the competition, they will make you greater. You & Aaron & Ishaq & Manti & Louis and all your other Gang are going to be a legendary defense. And the degree you will gain is already legend.

On a different appreciative tact: Thank you Coach Diaco, Coach Kelly, Coach Elston, Coach Martin for being such a hard working and authentic group of professionals. Any good young man would want to play for you. And to the Notre Dame administration: when the time comes, remember the Virginia Tech experience. They are very good every year because they reward their ASSISTANT coaches royally, and the head coach himself has even sacrificed a bit to keep people like Bud Foster on board. PLEASE do what is necessary to keep our young genius Diaco with us.

Tuitt decommitted from ND for one reason. He will now commit to GT only to flip back to ND later in hopes to catch up to Lynch's thread views and replies. Now that Lynch is on campus, Tuitt thought this was his best opportunity to seize the moment. See you soon Tuitt.

Utter brillance!

More from Stephon's Mother:

Tamara Bartlett, the mother of five-star defensive end Stephon Tuitt Monroe Area, asks college football fans to please keep in mind that the recruits they so love to follow are still teenagers and are making the biggest decisions of their lives.

“The recruiting process is nervewracking, very nervewracking,” she said after her son switched from Notre Dame to Georgia Tech and back to Notre Dame in a 36-hour period from Tuesday to Wednesday. “They have to remember that these kids are only 17 years old and are very impressionable. When the coaches get these kids alone without they’re parents, naturally they’re going to lean their way. As parents, it’s our job to look at the big picture and that’s why we’re involved. But these fans, I know they love their school, but they need to realize these kids hear what they say and read what they write and they need to be mindful of that.”

Players have to have the signature of their parents or a legal guardian on a national letter-of-intent for it to be valid. And Ms. Bartlett said the bottom line is she believes Notre Dame best situation for her son.

“Stephon does like Tech, but I’m looking at this long term,” she said. “Notre Dame is a known entity that’s going to influence his entire life. That’s a big difference. It’s apples to oranges.”

I'd say to give her a scholarship, too, but she's clearly smart enough already.

Reading the available info, I wonder if the HS coach is "in" with the GT staff/school/football program. Was he steered away? Just wondering.....

hmmm.... I'll pat myself on the back and say that I was correct.

I 100% agree on we have some great moms in this class. Having only heard from 3 of them, I hope the families are as good in the other ones. Aarons Mom has been a source of great enjoyment of mine during the recruiting process. Even when he decomitted she was gracious in my opinion. And Stephons mom sounds awesome as well. Again, looking out for her son.

I have one I really like after meeting her on the plane to the Sun Bowl. Nick and Zack Martin's mom. She was extremely nice. So, was their dad.

I am just loving getting more good people into the Irish Nation.

I want to thank all of the recruites for verballing to the Irish, and sure hope you all sign. Big things are coming for the Irish!!!

Go Irish, and Happy New Year to all!!!!!!

I think the one important factor that works in ND's favor is the Spiritual guidance that will be provided beyond the sports and acedemics. The former NBA great Bob Lanier commented that how helpful the priest's were while at St. Bonaventure. I believe these recruits parents take an added comfort knowing this, which most schools don't have.

I agree 100%. As a former head coach of another NCAA Catholic institution I can't agree more. My athletes said the same thing over and over.

Good call!

WOW! I go in for TLIF surgery yesterday afternoon and the last thing I read is Tuitt is GT verbal. I am in my bed tonight and I get online and the first thing I see is (Notre Dame Verbal)! I let out an obviously loud yell and 3 nurses come running into my room. They thought I had fallen out of my bed. I told them the great news and they tried to take my laptop away from me. NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND, I told them. I have some catching up to do. I am not allowed to get excited or they take it away (and told me they would take my morphine pump away) if I yelled again for something like that. Won't be online long tonight, so if some more Earth shattering news comes up, would someone PM me so I can stay up on the happenings. I will get to go home in a few days and hopefully, part of my rehab will be putting in several hours a day on Irish Envy. WELCOME BACK STEPHON!!!!

Good luck recovering that is some good news to wake up too.

Thanks! It was awesome news to wake up to. Hopefully, the excitement will be with me when they get me up in the morning to start my rehab. I have to walk to the end of the hall and back. If the "Pit Bull" can get Tuitt back, I can do this. Thats what I'm telling myself anyway. In case some of you are wondering what the helll TLIf is, it is short for "Tansforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion". They take some bone grafts from your Illiac Crest and fuse your lumbar vertebrea. Slap some plates, screws and rods in and, hopefully, your good to go. At least thats what the doc said.

All the best, bigedefense. I hope the procedure proves successful. DO YOUR "LAPS!"

Six years ago I had 18 inches of artery in my left thigh replaced with Gore-Tex™ in a femoral-popliteal bypass. I, too, was encouraged to walk the halls as soon as a few tubes here and there were disconnected.

My dogged perseverance not only made me a regular and welcome sight with the staff at the station on the floor, it shortened my hospital stay by two days. When I made my final "victory lap" to thank everyone while I awaited the wheelchair to shuttle me out of the hospital, I was given an ovation.

I wish you good luck, welcome you back and look forward to your posts as Irish football continues its upward path.
