Boston College 27
Notre Dame 24

That is what I'm going with. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.

Dont worry boys, our losing streak will end against Western I think.

Freshman QB. They aren't scoring 27.

I'm with Terry Tate.

Do you have to subscribe to insider to get the service? My provider isn't one of the ones they list.

Any other ways to stream the game?

That is a good question.., I have never used ESPN3 and I have no clue how it works. I see that COMCAST supports this service, but I am assuming you have to be an ESPN Insider to get access to it?

I think you can use espn3.com from anywhere. I know I used it while studying abroad in Spain to catch games so I figure if it works overseas it should work anywhere in the US.

I went through the Pay Per View down here where I live and they want like 135 bucks for the game. Ridiculous...., If I lived about 70 miles north of here I would be watching it on TV. Dang it

it appears you have to be an insider or subscribe to verizon or mediacom in my area (I have a cell account with them, but my land line and internet service are through Qwest) to use it.

If anyone knows another way, I'd greatly appreciate it! :)

ESPN 3 is free, I used it for the World Cup. You should have no issues using this site on gameday. For people who have an S-Video slot on your video card, there is a way to stream the game to your TV, provided you have a newer TV with said S-Video attachment.

I'm going to explain how to display your computer monitor on your TV for ease of viewing. I have a 22 in. HD monitor, but I still don't want to sit in front of the computer for a whole game. I would much rather chill on the comfort of my couch, watching it on my 48 in. TV. The quality will most likely not be HD, unless it is being broadcast in it, and your comp supports it, but a whole screen of football is still better than a computer monitor. Without further ado, this is what you need.

First and foremost, your video card must have an S-Video port on the back. If you look in the rear of your comp, and it should look like this:
s.video.gif

Your video card is the area on the back of your comp where the funny looking cord you have to screw in resides. The S-Video port should be right by that. With this knowledge, you need to find the corresponding port on your TV. Most new TVs will have them, but if not, again, your screwed. Now these most likely ruled out several people, but if you have ports on the video card, and TV, you're in luck. Make sure you see how many slots are in the port on each, because you will need to purchase an S-Video cable from Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, or wherever is closest. You'll also need an audio (red/white) to run from your headphone or sound port on your comp, into the red/white slots in the same display setup as the S-Video. Generally an analog jack for the headphone slot on your computer will work fine, with the corresponding red/white jacks on the TV end. You can get both of these cables from Wal-Mart, Radio Shack, etc.

So to confirm this, you need to get an S-Video cable and an audio cable, all of which fit into the slots on your TV and comp. Make sure you get the right cables! You can get both of these for roughly ten dollars each, although some can be more expensive. Now, once you set up the cables from your computer to your TV, you need to run your computer display onto your TV.

I have XP 64 because I refuse to buy a new OS every time Microsoft wants to add new features they should have just included in the original OS. Your OS may vary slightly based on Vista or 7, damn you Microsoft. But I digress, and won't get into my personal feelings towards Microsoft. Now, to get the display going, head to Start>Control Panel>Appearance and Themes>Display>Settings>Advanced. A window with tabs should pop up. Look for your video card tab and hit start control panel. This should bring up a new window with options for your display. You want to select clone display, so it displays on the comp and the TV. You'll have to adjust your resolution until it is right for your television screen. This option should be in the final control panel you opened to select clone. You can just keep scaling it down until you get it right on your TV.

If anyone has questions, feel free to ask and I'll clarify. This is how I'll be watching the game tomorrow! **** you ABC, I'll get the game on my TV without your ****ing help!

If this gets enough attention, Mods, can we make a thread out of it for ease of viewing and staying on topic?

Thank you for the Information! I don't mind watching the game on my computer and I know that COMCAST offers ESPN3. I guess my next step is to call them and ask them how to log into it. Anyways, thank you for your help. I see you are at Ft Richardson..., bet it's getting chilly up there about now.

It is getting chilly, we had flakes last weekend. You shouldn't have to log into it, it's just a site on the internet. Maybe your provider has restricted it, but I doubt that, because it would damage ESPN's, and therefore, ABC's hits on the site. You're going to this site, right? Watch Live Streaming Sports Online - ESPN3 In about three hours there will be a live event for you to try and watch, but the replays are up, so check and see if you can view those.

I was just watching the rugby game, so it seems like I have no worries.

ESPN3.com FAQ

Wow, what a bunch of ****s. They are restricting access to ISPs who have paid for the content to ESPN3, but Comcast is one of them, so you should be good. There is the list so everyone can check if your provider has paid to use the Tres. The internet was once a beautiful thing, but now it's turning into cable television. What a bunch of greedy ****s. Sorry guys, I always assumed it was just a regular internet site. Corporate greed strikes again!

Dude I cannot thank you enough. I appreciate it. Never was stationed in Alaska. My last posting was in Italy. Always thought Alaska would be kind of cool. Again thanks for the advice..., I will check it out here in a few minutes

QWest isn't on the list, but there are other places to view the game online, just like the one Rudolph posted. There is definitely going to be places to watch it on the internet. Where you watch it does not affect your ability to stream it onto your TV. So if you choose to gain the ability to stream it onto your TV, you just need to figure out where on the internet you are going to get the game from. Channelsurfing has been used by other members in the past, so I'm sure it's fine.

I've watched rugby before and enjoyed it... watched an entire Penn St./tOSU game about a month or so back...

didn't understand a ****ing thing but it was cool... made me realize "Wow, this is how my wife and other women I dated prior felt when exposed to Baseball, Hockey and Football..."

I played it in High School (Canada) and I still don't fully understand what the hell is going on.

(Needless to say we weren't very good...But we made sure they remembered us!)

There was a post a little back about feeling a change in the wind vis-a-vis Notre Dame among most commentators. I believe that this is real, though i doubt it's because they "know something" about the current team. My opinion: they like Kelly. They think Kelly is one of their guys---a college football gym rat who worked his way up earning it every step of the way. I think they like his swagger too, but because he does it like a real football coach without the air of superiority. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I also think that the large majority of them like Notre Dame as an institution. In this era of constant social embarrassments, the game could sure use a good example to feel good about. Also, I believe that most of them feel that Notre Dame has dumped its perceived arrogance. The large number of ND alum media people have behaved admirably and most folks, even Mark May, find it hard to pick on them. "Our guys" have represented us well. Even in the coming game, the nickname "The Holy War" hints of something that these commentators wish there was more of in college football---games hotly competitive by young men who are actually good citizens. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------If we win some games I believe that we will hear a [surprising?] lot of affectionate commentary by everyone except the few jerks [ex.Craig James] that still want to rub crap in everyone's face about how superior Texas and Gulfcoast football is to everyone else. Well, shouldn't have lost it and said that last thing--sorry. Now, to win a Holy War, and shake hands afterwards.

Re: rugby. Way back in the stone age of 1960 [or so] I saw one of our first "club" rugby matches on NDs campus. We were to play a semi-pro team from St. Louis named [I think] the Blues. Our guys were regular ND dorm guys with extremely hard heads. The first guy to show up from St. Louis was one of the largest human beings I've ever seen [maybe not even human]. The second guy was a person whose body seemed to shine with a golden lighttone. Fortunately the rest of them began to look more like Homo sapiens. All I remember of the action was seeing our guys crawl off the field with various cuts and slashes, get "treatment" [this consisted of tearing apart unused pieces of clothing and winding them around the wounds], and sprinting back on the field looking like The Pirates of The Caribbean. I was proud of those guys even though I thought they were nuts. It was the Notre Dame Spirit even back then.
