The ND background. Try to keep up little deer.
^ all I said was wow read all those negative comments about him, brutal. Then someone asked for a link to the pic.
Edit: To neutered.
I clicked on it and even signed up for the damn site, and all I see is his mug. I clicked on some stuff, and all I see is him in a red shirt. I am so confused. Lot's of negative messages to him from disgruntled Cinci fans.
Damn Venison....

I was a little disappointed at first that we couldn't get an already elite coach like Stoops or Meyer, but the more I read and hear about Kelly the more I love this hire. I really think the best hire we could have got! GO ND
just caught it... National Championship is a realistic goal in a few years...
This. Hell yes. With all the talk about our current rank and where we'll be in this first top ten issued by the playoff committee on Tuesday. I can't stop thinking how lucky we are to have BK.
Thank you Coach Kelly.
... and "politically" important, the US football nation LIKES Brian Kelly. This also goes far to erode kneejerk anti-ND prejudice. Applause Coach --- long may you reign!
Dear BK,
Please no more open backfields at the goal line.
Sincerely,
Pump
I don't know if I agree with this. Most non-ND fans I know can't stand him, though I can't figure out why. (Because ND)
Declan and Seeburg are a couple of reasons I see. Along with leaving Cincy "High and dry",on my travel to other boards.I don't know if I agree with this. Most non-ND fans I know can't stand him, though I can't figure out why. (Because ND)
I see the Cincy thing from time to time and it irks me. Every coach who takes another job leaves his current team "high and dry." Nature of the business.Declan and Seeburg are a couple of reasons I see. Along with leaving Cincy "High and dry". On my travels to other boards.
Greyhammer: apologies for the unclarity --- I meant people on television making sports commentary. They probably have way more influence on general thinking about ND than people who are not on TV.
Kelly haters break down into 3 categories:
1. The ignorant. They look at the manufactured narrative of him being a "yeller" and "mean"... all from the one game against USF 3 years ago. He's not even in the top 20 of most animated/yelling coaches, but none of these other coaches ever get called out on their stuff, and they aren't on national TV half as much as Kelly. Ignorance sometimes extends to Sullivan/Seeberg/Kekua but that's pretty rare... usually this crowd just "doesn't like him" the same way ignorant voters just "don't like" a certain candidate while knowing nothing about their platform.
2. The self-righteous ND hater. This group of anti-ND people try to stretch everything they can to be laid at Kelly's feet. He's a "liar" because he left Cincinnati... you know, after being man enough to tell all his players face to face unlike many other coaches (Franklin, Petrino, etc.)... you compare Franklin's exit to Kelly's and it's just hilarious the contrast. He also "covered up rape" and "killed a kid"... it's so important for these morons to justify their hatred for ND and make Brian Kelly a devil-like figure that everything is turned into the most fitting derogatory hyperbole they can that serves their end.
3. The legitimate Kelly hater. This is by far the smallest group and is generally comprised of people from southwest Ohio. There are also a small quantity of people (like the old Crete-Monee coach) who disliked Kelly from prior events. This is the only group of people where it's even understandable that they don't like Kelly.
As a very relevant aside, there are virtually no legitimate people in the industry who dislike or don't respect Kelly. This is in stark contrast to Willingham (not respected at all) and Weis (incredibly disliked by many). It should tell you a lot that the most informed people raise zero legitimate gripes with the man.
