I think the ceiling for BYU is 20 points. I see NDs
I've known Mike Denbrock since he was my GA offensive line assistant at MSU. We stayed in contact off an on over the years and our friendship really took off after he came to Cincinnati in 2017 where I had been living since 1993. I communicate with him a few times a week. He told me he has never given the autonomy to a QB like he does with CJ and that includes Jayden Daniels. He says CJ has the innate ability to see it all. It's all about the trust.
can you ask him if he’s ever seen a jet sweep?

Watching ISU game. Their secondary is painfully slow. Looks like a bunch of Drew Pyne’s playing cover 2.

Knowing Denbrock, do you think he is going to open the pass game up a bit more this week? I don't mean throwing bombs all over the field, but actually throwing more passes in the 10-20 yds downfield. They are the ones i'm seeing open every game, especially to our slot WRs.

Or do you think the offense is what it is from the way it's called, and it's more about working on higher levels of execution?

I'm not the biggest fan of him as a play caller (creativity and scheming players open), but I think he's one of the best in the business at getting his offense to execute the plays he calls at a high level. The stats back that up.

My biggest worry offensively is that CJ’s head starts spinning with the pressures and crowd and he throws a INT right to a simulated pressure. He is very good pre-snap, but he also shouldn’t try to figure everything out to the point it becomes paralyzing. He’ll need to read post snap, more and faster than normal.

CJ's head doesn't spin.

He's a freaking pro.

Good read. This guy is an entertaining one. Prister or O’Malley dream of these jokes with actual points

“Do you remember the line in The Social Network where the Winkelvoss twins are talking about how they are going to intimidate Mark Zuckerberg? When discussing hiring some of The Sopranos to beat the crap out of Zuckerberg, one Winklevoss twin says, "We don't even to do that. I'm 6-5, 220 and there's two of me."

Well, Boubacar Traore is 6-5, 253 and there's two of him on the defensive line.”

The BYU writer mentions going max protect or screens to stave off the pass rush. We rarely rush anything besides 4 - 5 so keeping 7 guys in just to make sure Bear is protected seems like a disaster plan.

Honestly I can’t remember the last heavy RB screen game someone used on us? Like who has thrown more than 2 screens? Maybe Louisville a few years ago?

Of interest, he says they don’t run that many RPOs.

Says will try to go horizontal a ton in passing game - good luck, see how fast ND is compared to the Big 12.

In watching ISU game they are very horizontal, especially in the run game. Denbrock's going to see a jet sweep whether he likes it or not.

Find out if he plans to run any hurry up.

Wild how by October 10 we were effectively guaranteed 10-2 at minimum
I'm not too worried we will end up 10-2 but problem is if we are, there's no guarantee we are top 12. We would have beaten nobody except maybe Wisconsin if they continue on their trajectory. But hardly playoff worthy. If we somehow lay an egg in Provo, Miami is a must-win, though it feels like it already is because screw the Hurricanes.

Alas, beat Cougars. No looking ahead. We will get BYU's best shot. Doesn't mean we cant cover the spread and win by two scores.

It’s so true.

ND’s DL just compresses the pocket then catches vermin when they bolt.

The good thing about the first 6 games is the pent up energy to play a top 10 team. Again, we are as good as we think, or we're not really a playoff caliber team. There's no overlooking, we're not playing a true title contender, we're just as advertised or smoke and mirrors. This BYU team is not that good, guys.

Three Keys to the Game

1. Can BYU establish the running game? The Cougars’ best chance is to make this a physical, possession-oriented contest. LJ Martin and the BYU offensive line must generate consistent rushing production and keep Notre Dame’s offense on the sidelines.

I think Vegas has already processed the fact that LJ isnt going to play. It is dated yeaterday, but must have been written (or prompted) at least a week before. And even ChatGrokpClaude would know that LJ is out.
