Provo, fine. GameDay in town, no problem. I didn’t realize about the 5:30 part. Dam, that’s a major major problem.View attachment 3065249
Apparently it gets cold there at night, do you think our boys are prepared for that possibility?
I'll probably post more in depth thoughts later this week and a rundown of the BYU team, why those around the program are confident, and anything else I find interesting.
But I do want to say a couple things and maybe get everyone's thoughts.
1) BYU fans are a passionate group as you can see. While I don't think it's the most hostile place we have played in recently, I promise you it will be loud. I remember Kedon Slovis when he was at USC (funny enough, he actually finished his career at BYU) mentioned that the BYU fans were intimidating simply because when others say something, you think they are just drunk. BYU fans are sober and will be telling you, you suck. Regardless it's going to be loud.
So, with that in mind, how does it affect Carr's ability to set protections, audible, etc. at the LOS? Even Freeman in his presser talks about how Carr will need to do it. Against A&M, Riley wasn't needing to make adjustments as much (maybe ever?). So for those smarter than me, how much 'hearing' is required to get audibles. I know on CFB 27 my team can't do an audible to save their lives on the road!
2) the other thing that will be interesting is pace of play. I know it's been brought up, but both of us play slow. Any chance we try and change that at all, and use it as a crutch to the inability to communicate as well on offense?
But was he doing as much then, as he is currently asked to be doing?I’m sure it will be loud. With that being said, it won’t be anything these players haven’t seen before. CJ Carr made his first career start at the Hard Rock Stadium hornet’s nest. As long as the play is called in a timely manner, I don’t think the headset communications will be impacted by the crowd noise because the crowd noise is usually only loud when the offensive huddle breaks.
What a useless article. Calls Carr a freshmen then goes on the say a win for BYU would make them a Big12 championship contender? How does that work? Also, is BYU is really #8 is it that big of an upset? Any score prediction that has ND losing by giving up over 30 tells me they don’t know what they’re talking about. The only way ND loses this game is because BYU kills the clock and our offense is inefficient. Here is one Georgia Tech fans propective------

I did not say it was good, I thought it was lame. We could lose, but giving up 31? That seems unlikely. What a useless article. Sorry wasn’t implying you shouldn’t have posted it etcI did not say it was good, I thought it was lame. We could lose, but giving up 31? That seems unlikely.
I think anyone saying it as a "moment being too big", or intimidation factor, are sorely mistaken. But it will be the first time Carr will be having to communicate, potentially using a silent count, etc. Which could cause issues for sure with how much he seems to be communicating.Every "keys to a BYU victory" starts with "its a raucous environment."
That's it. Not, their players are better or they do X better than ND. Their fans yell real loud.
Ok, sure
This is a great question. We haven't seen it yet, but given BYU has a decent defense I wouldn't be surprised to see Denbrock go hurry up once or twice to get the D on their heals. It also makes it a little tough on the crowd.I'll probably post more in depth thoughts later this week and a rundown of the BYU team, why those around the program are confident, and anything else I find interesting.

There is definitely a BYU lean in that article. What a useless article. Calls Carr a freshmen then goes on the say a win for BYU would make them a Big12 championship contender? How does that work? 62KI doubt it. But I also don’t think it’ll be deafening that he can’t communicate with his OL. Isn’t it stadium with capacity of around 50-60k?
Ehhhh I mean after they ran out of the razorback inflatable and a few “Woo Pigs” the fans pretty quickly realized their team was garbage. I don’t think anyone in that stadium thought they had a snowball’s chance to win.Didn't CJ Carr go to Arkansas and kick their ass last year? Was that a nice, comfy, environment?

BYU fans seem to believe they have a very good chance to not only win, but win convincingly.
Carr was not his level of good against Stanford. The 2nd offensive series for ND Carr was as bad as i've ever seen him on a series. First down, bad read, late, and underthrown. He had a safety 1-1 with greathouse coming wide open, Faison smoked his guy 1-1, gilbert was the only wr that had safety help over the top. Even with the poor read, an on time good throw had a chance throwing to gilbert, but it wasn't. Second down, his read and throw right to the Stanford LB was alarming/confusing. The play on second down would have most likely worked with PA. No PA and the LB immediately went to help on the slant in zone. I hope it was just him not being locked in. They were in zone, but he clearly read man. Third down craig got whipped, he didn't have time to let the play develop, he had gilbert coming open.My biggest worry offensively is that CJ’s head starts spinning with the pressures and crowd and he throws a INT right to a simulated pressure. He is very good pre-snap, but he also shouldn’t try to figure everything out to the point it becomes paralyzing. He’ll need to read post snap, more and faster than normal.
To piggy off of this, Arkansas fans (and seemingly their players) knew their coach was dead man walking. I don't remember there being any energy on the broadcastEhhhh I mean after they ran out of the razorback inflatable and a few “Woo Pigs” the fans pretty quickly realized their team was garbage. Correct. Cumulative stats are just that. They rarely if ever tell the whole story. Timing disruption matters most regardless of the form that takes.I mean that’s true for everyone, Texas had 10 of their sacks against the now Tennessee backup.
I agree they will definitely key the pass rush scheme off his running and Bear might legitimately be hard to bring down just due to his size, but his ISU scrambles from what I remember he had clean pockets and saw nothing open and then ran. IMO there is still opportunity for the pass rush to squeeze the pocket to a sack. He’s a scramble instead of pass, not to avoid sacks guy IMO.
Tell him we said hiI've known Mike Denbrock since he was my GA offensive line assistant at MSU. We stayed in contact off an on over the years and our friendship really took off after he came to Cincinnati in 2017 where I had been living since 1993. I communicate with him a few times a week. He told me he has never given the autonomy to a QB like he does with CJ and that includes Jayden Daniels. He says CJ has the innate ability to see it all. It's all about the trust.
He’s flirted w/ a few picks that got dropped so throwing one in Provo wouldn’t surprise me but he seemed to be very intentional on a few plays last week where he just pumped it before tucking and running. Almost like he learned from the almost int earlier. My biggest worry offensively is that CJ’s head starts spinning with the pressures and crowd and he throws a INT right to a simulated pressure. He is very good pre-snap, but he also shouldn’t try to figure everything out to the point it becomes paralyzing. He’ll need to read post snap, more and faster than normal.
