Q while we wait for some good news: if we could land Brewu plus a competent K, M Graham, Keeley, and a few project DTs would that be a more or less positive portal?

It's near impossible to know, other than the good ones being able to confirm that somebody has / has not arrived on campus. Under Freeman the media's access has dried up to start with... In the portal world, where agents are working the phones and things are changing every 30 minutes to 1 hour, it's nearly impossible for information to be accurate by time they report it to the masses.

ND has had 15 players transfer out, but they also over signed in recruiting, taking a 29 man class in anticipation of "forcing" guys out by cutting their compensation down to extremely low levels. I've got it as 1 "yes", 5 "maybe", and 9 "no".

We're only at 15, we can probably expect a few more. A tight end maybe? We have wayyyy too many offensive linemen, you have to think 2-3 of those guys are going to announce as well. 17-18 transfers maybe?

The truth is that ND needs some of these guys to transfer, because each one that does opens up practice reps for the higher upside guys and more importantly, the increments of $25,000-$50,000 that most of these guys were going to get in Rev Share can now be recycled to help pay signing bonuses for incoming recruits and can be used to augment the portal budget.

Graham is good enough that he could essentially turn the slot / field WR positions at ND into 3-for-2 type situation along with Greathouee and Faison where they wach get 40-45 reps per game and keep each other fresh.

Let me just throw this out there to talk that truly know ball, if we don’t land anyone within the portal how likely are we to make the playoffs or win a nattie in 2026?

DL and OL are the most important positions outside of QB, debatably. So if we don't land anyone, not very likely at all. However, I do not think that's going to be the case. Let's see who we land and how they are utilized. Looking forward to the portal closing.

With the schedule we play, we will make the playoffs with the team as is, maybe even host a game.

We will then get bounced in the first round by a team with a decent OL and run game.

Playoff: 95%
Natty: 10%

Ten percent because maybe we get lucky and run into some spread teams that don’t believe in running the football. Every single team in the semi finals this year, would beat a current ND squad with no portal additions.

Ideally you get Graham + a more proven outside body. There’s tons of em. Doesn’t need to be someone Strong’s caliber

I wouldn’t be shocked to see some change over there before next year. All of them just sound exhausted every time they respond to someone and the comments on every article are brutal.
