OK. That's all well and good. So is anyone going to punish the official acc twitter account for talking shit for a month straight? Fucking bread and circuses right now.

"The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

Most people are just so dumb now that you can convince them of anything with enough spin.

I get that I'm bitter. But holy shit, at least make the argument believable.

We definitely can't get a scheduling agreement with the Big Ten, but I do wonder if there is some angle shooting that would work for us to get other sports a home there. They already let us in for hockey. They also let in Johns Hopkins for lacrosse. There is clearly some amount of flexibility with them for non-revenue sports inclusion, I just don't know how far it extends.
I smoked pot with Johnny Hopkins. It was Johnny Hopkins and Sloan Kettering and they were blazing that shit up every day.

You know what happens if Notre Dame joins a conference? Everyone bitches and moans about Notre Dame. Nothing changes.

Notre Dame hasn’t won shit for 40 years and everyone still acts like they’re Public Enemy #1. You aren’t winning those hearts and minds no matter what you do, so they may as well do whatever it takes to at least have titles for people to be pissed off about.
Yep, they’ll still piss and moan.

I guess I don’t understand the point of a PC tomorrow if there isn’t some sort of announcement

He can announce the end of our relationship with the ACC.
I doubt he does that until he has a landing spot. And, I really doubt he's got that all worked out by tomorrow.

But, if he wants to have a presser and tell everyone to go fuck themselves and put them on warning, I am down with it.

I thought it was just the "usual" end of season press conference? Those are normal? I don't remember those but maybe they don't usually get much coverage.

When is the next basketball game, either men or women's? I really think it would be funny if the ACC patch is either removed or covered up

The new hot rumor is that:
1. ND has already indicated to the ACC that they are exploring options and will pay them $0 if/when they leave because they violated some non-disparagement clause.

2. There is more than just "mean tweets"... allegedly there was some funny business in the room from SEC-aligned and ACC-aligned people to put Bama/Miami in. One for me, one for you. And ND thinks they'll be able to walk away from ACC (should they find a suitable dance partner) without this going to court because ESPN/ACC/etc. won't want embarrassing stuff coming out in depositions. I sorta have a hard time believing this, but there have also been a lot of cryptic comments the past two days alluding to collusion or it "being worse than you think."

All of this could be made up, don't shoot the messenger.
Part 2 happened; it’s a matter of being able to prove it to where you can force the ACC to settle.

Part 2 Clearly happened. I’m more unsure about the first part of your post. The problem is we may have to join a conference as the ACC was the only one shitty enough to give us our current deal. No way the SEC or Big 10 would allow it and scheduling may be too difficult as a true Independent. What’s our real options?
Give up independence in football. I don’t value it as much as others. It’s not tenable in the mega conference era.

I find this totally plausible. These folks may work for universities, but they’re not there to educate our youth. They’re business men and their focus is strictly on promoting what’s best for their school ($$$). It wouldn’t be the first time AD’s made a back room deal. After all, they really want to force ND into a conference and this was a first step.

Did the Golic and Golic interviews with yurichek happen?
I went looking for this today during my workout. Couldn’t find it anywhere and neither of the Golic’s tweeted about it getting canceled. It seems really odd to me.

He must have chickened out or maybe ND is going after CFP/SEC/ACC for some type of backdoor collusion and they won’t allow him to speak publicly anymore.

It is inconceivable to me that the Big Ten would allow a football scheduling agreement, or to be a home for all non-football sports. If Notre Dame is picking up the phone, it means they want out of the ACC and that means no leverage.

For me it just gets back to the type of schedule that Notre Dame wants to see. The ACC deal and the steady diet of Wake Forests, Dukes, and Pittsburghs is exciting to exactly no one. The ACC *should* be a damn good conference, with Miami, Florida State, and Clemson as top 15 teams and Louisvillle, North Carolina and Virginia Tech providing real depth. They have been waiting for that since 2004, my first experience with conference expansion. It's not happening.

If USC decides that it needs to "pause" the rivalry, which I am sure the Big Ten would love to see, what matchups are we playing for? What is the actual point of independence other than some odd pride that Notre Dame was the last one standing after Miami, Penn State, etc joined conferences 30+ years ago?

Just join the Big Ten already and let the ACC burn to the ground.

I had the same thought on both notes, for whatever that’s worth.

Also looked today and also couldn’t find it.

I don't know that it would come to this but the mere existence of the SEC provides the opportunity for leverage. The SEC expanding into the North through a scheduling deal with ND and horning in on NBC night games would have to be a "oh shit" moment for the B1G.

1) announce extension of MFMF
2) Claim the 1993 title and announce we are hanging the banner the same day we put up 70 points on bitch ass Arkansas next year
Arkansas game is in 2028. Miami is next year, assuming they can figure out how to get out Florida for an OOC game.

Frankly, you don't go to the big ten. You go to the big 12 and start talking about a deal, then have Bevaqua hit up his buddies at NBC and CBS talking about how terrible the big ten deal is turning out for them with Fox getting all the good games and have them put the pressure on the big ten to get an ND deal so they get a few more decent games a year.

Yes. ND membership is a zero sum game. Any conference will be willing to work something out solely to keep ND away from the others.

There was a lot of Miami and Alabama noise Saturday leading into those games. A lot. Jesse Palmer was broadcasting Tech and BYU but wouldn't shut up about Miami.

Saban was talking up Miami and Bama Saturday morning. People want him to be Commissioner of College Football.

They probably lost the PR battle in the end, which is probably more important than the merit of their season. H2H had little to do with all of this in the end. Miami was ranked behind ND for weeks. Then suddenly when it counted they weren't.

Have to have a closer.
Jesse Palmer wouldn't shut up about it for sure. Herbstreit did quite a bit too.
