Extend Freeman. Then go to the mattresses on the NCAA, ACC and ESPN. Full stop. Join a conference my ass. Triple down and go take the fucking natty next year.

As for Freeman, it seemed to take 2.5 games to get things settled on both side of the ball. Defense, in particular, woke up at halftime of the Purdue game. Or after halftime.

Go into preseason camp with your QB1 decision made. Any new coordinators means having that side of the ball locked in and locked on. Everyone on the same page before the first snap. Adjust and tweak as needed, but not massively broad strokes. Iron out the big wrinkles, if any, during August before the first game.

Fuck it, host a preseason game with a program that will take the payday to show up for a joint “practice” and dare anyone to do something about it. Iron out the wrinkles and knock off the rust before week zero.

Who cares if they try to retroactively punish you and take away the natty you’re about to win because of unsanctioned on-field activity? Plea the 5th for once and dare the NCAA to vacate a champion… they couldn’t even do it with all the smoking guns scUM and Stalions gave them.

Watch all the schools in the country start clamoring for preseason games, watch all the conferences have to scramble and deal with, and watch bowl season continue to fall apart… all because ND got mad.

Fuck ‘em all.

Lax...do you feel comfortable enough saying one way or the other if an extension is actually happening?

I have literally no idea, that's why I asked around media people and none of them said they had heard that announcement was coming tomorrow.

Only thing I *know* is about the extension that they were working on and what those terms were, I have no clue whether it was signed or when it'll be announced if it was. So everyone needs to have blind faith in 2008 that he is correct about that being the purpose of the presser tomorrow. All the "Freeman to NFL" stuff is spooky to me but I've also got PTSD from all the times ND has gotten fucked by the universe.

I have no idea, tbh I just hope that all of the NFL interest doesn't throw some wrench in the works. Like of course Freeman told other college jobs to fuck off, and I'm certainly optimistic that he isn't interested in the Giants/Steelers, but you never know with this shit. If they do truly announce something tomorrow as 2008 said then all you have to worry about is retaining Denbrock (who is also a very hot commodity) and figuring out if you can keep Mickens and/or Ash and/or Bullough.
There should be zero excuse for any program that isn't Ohio State or an NFL team to lure Marcus away. I don't think you can do anything to stop those scenarios, but anything else should be unacceptable at Notre Dame, and they should be doing whatever it takes to make that clear.

If Freeman leaves for the NFL after all of this, I will jump off the nearest bridge.

It would be so easy to become a college football widow, just turning the TV off and not giving a single fuck about it anymore.

One guy doesn’t make the program, blah blah, I get it, BUT, we are literally at the beginning of what will be a Golden Age of ND football we haven’t seen since the late 80’s.

It would be the most demoralizing thing on earth to see that fall apart before it even reaches full steam.

Knowing MF is our coach is the only thing that held my faith in CFB together yesterday.

The extension in the works pre-CFB-screw-job was reportedly $12.5M base with escalators to $14M. Don't know if terms or timeline have changed in the past 24 hours.

They are also:
-Re-working undergrad transfers to make it a more streamlined process
-Additional staff + staff $$
-Other recruiting and QoL enhancements

Source is not me, this is all per our board's favorite "little bird".
The undergrad stuff sounds like fluff and no real action.

Day was mentioned annually for the NFL till basically this year. Kirby doesn’t get mentioned because it doesn’t make sense why he would ever leave given his instant success (and salary) at this level.

Is this "Freeman to the NFL" push not suspicious to anyone else?

Seems totally inorganic and contrived. No actual NFL insider type has put him on any lists. Giants vetted him last year, and he hasn't interviewed, nor is he expected to.

I truly believe that these people are mad that ND has the best coach is college football. JB mentioned on II today that extension talks were well received on both sides and nothing has changed
