I hope he gets what is owed to him, mostly because of the shit show that has ensued after he was fired by the governor of the state on down.

Slapdicks and chucklefucks galore. Pay up.
It was the most "Louisiana thing" I've seen in quite sometime. I get it that the Governor appoints the Board, the Board appoints the AD, the AD hires the HC and so on....but it was a complete cluster. I wasn't so sure why they canned him so quickly, either? I get the pressure was immensely there and fans were ready to run him out of town, but you had a little bit of time to get your ducks in a row.

Well, there's the whole time value of money and inflation factors to take into account. I'm not saying I'd do it .... I think I could handle $800,000 being direct deposited monthly over approximately 6 years. But, again, he'd get a hefty lump sum up front and he could be done with it all (i.e., the duty to mitigate, LSU, etc.). Not too bad to have $25MM hit your account and ride off into the Boston sunset...
I thought I saw someone did a Present Value calculation of the remaining payout and it would equate to something like 38 million in upfront dollars.

LSU fired him and has basically taken every opportunity possible to sewer him on the way out. The quotes given by media, alumni and politicians cannot be 100% controlled by LSU, but they can be partially. LSU has chosen to fire free reign shots at him. I’m not sure why he would be in any sort of giving mood.

Good question. I'm not too sure if Woodward is close to Brad Davis (both are from Baton Rouge). Davis, however, definitely deserves to be let go...the offensive line he assembled is one of the worst that I've seen.

Maybe LSU is holding out on his duty to mitigate (i.e., get another job)? He's only 64 y/o. His payout is for approximately 6 years. He can easily get another job (UCLA, Penn State, Stanford, perhaps BC if it comes available, media). Now, will he want to...? I think this last go around crushed him and his ego.
We talking about the same Brian Kelly?

They offered him $25m then $30m, out of a $54-58m buyout.

Those aren't serious offers.

They need to start at like $42m, and hope they don't get past $47m before he accepts.

Small thing but because of its location on the Atlantic Ocean, Boston is really more of a sunrise town than sunset. Unless you’re on the Cape or somewhere with water to the west of you, the sun just kind of disappears behind some buildings, perhaps as early as 4:15 in December!

Also BK hasn’t lived here in almost 40 years. He’s welcome to stay in Louisiana; the golf is probably better there anyway.

Feels like Florida did this with Napier? He got fired after a win.

I wonder if they could potentially get him for insubordination? He was instructed by the then AD, Scott Woodward, to fire Joe Sloan (OC). Kelly wouldn't and in response, he was terminated.
This never really made sense to me. Did they genuinely want Kelly to stay but Sloan gone? If Woodward had the authority to fire Sloan, why even ask Kelly to do it? Just fire Sloan and tell Kelly to deal with it or resign.

You know what is better than $25m?

"Kelly's attorneys said in the letter that LSU officials previously confirmed that the coach was fired without cause, meaning he would be owed 90% of his remaining compensation."

What he is owed.

I would think that a public spat between LSU and BK would harm LSU far more than BK.

I truly believe BK doesn't care if he ever coaches again.

LSU would have to hire a new coach under the umbrella of a public spat where it comes across as LSU choosing not to honor contracts. But hey, please come coach our team.
Agreed. LSU is already in a sort of PR dumpster with their governor's heavy hand and off putting quotes, a public spat where they're trying to undercut the guy they just fired won't look good for them.

LSU fired him and has basically taken every opportunity possible to sewer him on the way out. Yeah, they practically threw a party and then went out and lost to Bama anyway.

This is a case of “when assholes collide” There is no side worth rooting for.

Not rooting for BK to get his money. Hope he gets way less than he wants and turns purple with rage.

Not rooting for LSU to more easily get off the hook for the most expensive oopsie they have ever seen. Hope this creates a deficit so bad the university has to wonder why it really exists in the first place and re-evaluate their core mission.

Mutual destruction is the way.

Side note:

Under no circumstance whatsoever should ND let BK worm his way back in any capacity whatsoever.

No halftime wave to the crowd as a special guest years from now.

No autograph table when he squanders his fortune and is broke.

Nothing.

Go away, stay away.

What about a little table outside of Hacienda where he passes out buttons that advertises him as the Winningest Coach in Program History?

Everyone tripped all over themselves to crown LSU the best job in the country and the state of Louisiana and the LSU Admin stepped in and said, "not on my watch."

LSU “playing games” claiming BK was never fired and thus they can still begin termination “for cause”.

The lawsuit goes to great length to detail the process of "for cause" and how LSU would have had to inform Kelly of that within a seven-day period. Kelly would then have seven days to respond. The suit says that never occurred.

Good luck trying to hire a new coach.

LSU is gonna end up paying $60 million of a $54 million buyout
And they really might have to call back up Ed O to coach them. A coach with other options is going to wonder if it's worth it to go there when the governor has stepped in and said they don't want to give out a big deal with big buyouts anymore, publicly undermined the AD and forced his resignation, fired a coach with a 71% win percentage, and is now trying to fuck said coach out his buyout money.

Considering BK isn’t really “liked” by anyone right now, he’s getting virtually 100% support on Twitter in regards to this latest update. LSU is being viewed as idiots.

This is going to end up like Mike Leach 2.0 where they stiff him on money and then say "you can't sue us cuz we're the state" or some shit

BK is petty enough to do that
And if they didn't know that, they truly didn't understand the man they hired. BK is a Masshole who had political aspirations, he's not some bumpkin like Ed O who just wants some beer money to throw around at the hot divorcee's around Baton Rouge.

I feel like LSU is gonna come back with the cause as something in along the lines of he didn’t faithfully represent LSU’s best interests or some stupid shit that essentially encapsulates his lack of “fit” …
