I have a suspicion that LSU is going to make a big push for Freeman at some point this month with Ausberry's dad on the committee and whatnot. Not buying Freeman stays until we get an extension announced.
would be a stupid reason, but I can't see LSU going for another ND coach.

I think Louisiana's governor made it clear that LSU will not be spending a bunch of money to buyout someone or pay for a mega contract, which would eliminate someone like Freeman. LSU leaders/boosters actually may be smart to invest money in NIL rather than a coach.

Curious what everyones predictions would be for next head coach at

1. LSU
2. Florida
3. Penn State
4. Auburn

I obviously am just guessing lol but ill say

1. Eli Drinkwitz lol for LSU which I know LSU fans won't be happy with
2. Lane to UF (he just fits perfectly at Florida)
3. Penn state I honestly have no idea ill go Matt Campbell
4. Auburn - has to be Sumrall

I think Lane stays put. Ole Miss will be in the playoffs and those schools will need to move faster than he can. So he gets a big payday to run it back. I think Key and Lea also get extended.
From there…

Florida: Drinkwitz
LSU: Sumrall
Penn State: Manny Diaz
Auburn: Franklin

The wild card is if FSU (or any other Top 20 job) comes open. There aren’t enough good coaches available to fill them all.

Idk why I didn't think of Auburn hiring Franklin

Lane Kiffin should stay at Ole Miss. I think LSU embarrassed themselves with how the firings of Kelly and the AD went down. Why would anyone want to involve themselves with that?

And the “Ed O and Les Miles both won a championship so that makes this a top 3 job” argument is stupid. That doesn’t make any sense.

Les only got to the championship game because 5 teams ahead of them lost the last weekend of 2007. LSU has mostly been a solid second tier SEC school that got a few breaks in the 21st century. They’re not set up to do well in the portal and super conference era.

I truly dont think Lane leaves Ole Miss. He's got it great there and now can leverage for more amenities from them. Why leave to restart for programs that are a mess organizationally (LSU) and a complete rebuild (UF). Auburn fans want durkin and I could see them doing and going for a slam dunk staff and maximum player retention. PSU will be interesting, its not as great of a job as people think. I think they will go after drink but could see a potential hire like Fran Brown or Hartline (desperation). LSU admin has their head in the clouds still thinking they can get Saban. They made the absurd statement that they should be a title contender every year, and have put themselves in a position of weakness and failure. What will do is throw the bank at Lanning/Kiffen which I think gets declined, then make a hire like Drinkwitz. They should go Sumrall or Dillingham but thats not the LSU way. For Florida I have honestly no idea, they are going to get screwed by all these teams firing their coaches abruptly making the market crazy. They need a Freeman type, but I dont see a good fit. Fran Brown could be the right choice but I don't know if the fans would accept that.

Personally I believe their is going to be a meltdown this year and cash is going to be thrown around like crazy. Their seems to be a lack of patience this year for teams to hire exceptional coordinators for head coaching jobs. It is not going to work out and the mighty SEC is going to get hammered for this. This could be the beginning of a great equalizer in CFB, SEC taking a step back and the BIG,B12 taking a step forward.

At this rate, one program is going to get lucky and hit it big w/ their 3rd or 4th choice…ala SC & Pete Carroll

To any knowledgeable IE brothers: Is anyone talking Fran Brown to MD? Seems reasonable to casual followers of the carousel.

I dont think they fire their head coach. He has brought in good players and if they fire him they lose all of them.

Don't worry. The governor wants to score brown nose points and let Trump pick, so LSU fans need to get ready for one of the Duck Dynasty people or something.

Nobody with a brain stem should want to be involved in this LSU job now. There is no president, no athletic director and it's off the rails.

Interesting question as to which of those jobs is more appealing in this day and age. Might vote Va. Tech.
That Auburn job, I'd stay far away from that if I were Franklin. Auburn might have the most unreasonable fan, alumi, and booster base in the entire country. Extremely deluded into thinking they're Bama tier and if Franklin does what he did at PSU he would be run out of town long before he hit the 12 year mark.

VT is about the same tier as Auburn in my mind and they have much more reasonable expectations and I think he would actually do very well there all things considered.

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm thinking too. Auburn probably pays better and has higher (potential) upside, but the odds of surviving five (or even more than three) years there are not good. Va. Tech will have more reasonable expectations and you could actually put together a team capable of competing for playoff spots in the ACC.

LSU is a better job than Auburn or VT imo. Sure the expectations are wild, but there is a demonstrable path to wild success there over the past 25-30 years.

However, the recent developments where LSU appears to be in total disarray does make it slightly less appealing, but I would still take that job over Auburn. Wouldn't touch Auburn with a 10 foot pole.
