I know a lot of schools have some quirks, traditions, etc. that seem odd from the outside but I've never seen anything as consistently weird and culty as Texas A&M.

I think it is the product of two things. 1) being from Texas and 2) a stereotypical little brother complex.

Im a big advocate of healthy state pride. Texans seem to take it to extreme levels, which is harmless but can be very bizarre to observe from the outside.

Its no secret most state flagships historically are the more successful school relative to their land grant brothers (if the land grant is a separate school). Accordingly, you'll find some weird songs and traditions at said land grants where it is explicitly about their hate of the flagship university. Im intimately familiar with this, every first down at North Dakota State elicits a "Sioux Suck Shit" from the student section no matter the opponent.

Texas A&M similarly falls victim to being Jan Brady, they just do it bigger and better than everyone else. Its really no wonder David Koresh chose Texas as his base of operations, the people there are very susceptible to this sort of thing.

They don’t worry me as much as Miami. Their DL is super undersized and their WR’s are all short

Koresh. Right outside of Waco and in-line with Luby's cafeteria. Good times with the BFV playing smash.!

Sort of off topic, but did Elko try to bring Leonard to TAMU with him last year? Or did he he really he had the goods in Weigman

I think Leonard had already transferred to ND before Elko left for A&M.
I would have to imagine that RL and Elko were close enough for RL to know where Elko was headed before it was announced. And if you remember, the College Football world treated Weigman like he was a Heisman contender before last season

Thought I was going to have to miss this game for a concert my Girlfriend really wanted me to go with her to, which she had told me was on Saturday the 13th of September. I just checked and turns out it's on Monday the 15th

The A&M fans that came here last year certainly had me worried about Weismann. According to them, He could run like the wind and throw it through a thimble.

Luckily for us, he wasn’t mobile and made Winbush look accurate.

Not arguing against A&M culture being weird and culty, but to my mind Muster is in fact a very beautiful tradition that must certainly strengthen the school and its alummi.

Obviously is week 1 one but they really have the talent to be a 10 win / playoff team. They are number five in average composite recruit rank (247), right above us. Another ~8 win season would be brutal.

I said it in another post but their DL is small and can’t stop the run. Love and Price might run for 350 yards on them

I didn't watch the game, but I'm sure Elko will have them frothing at the mouth in two weeks.

I'm expecting a slugfest.
