I finished Baldur's Gate 3 finally. I have some feedback, but I'll save it for a bit as I'm restarting on a Dark Urge playthrough. I just did this on my 2nd playthrough (Githyanki Creche, Lathander's Blood, explosive finish) and got this interaction. Hilarious!

Rockstar games just hit different.

there was a thread on reddit where a supposed former RS employee was saying the single player portion of the game (characters/missions/story) is all completed and has been since January 2025 but the execs are pushing devs hard on making sure the GTA online aspect of the game is watertight as they know this is where the real money is made for them.

Gotta make sure they can ride GTA VI Online to billions and billions of dollars of profit over the next 30 years

I never played TLOU, but am currently caught up with the series. Only really ever played sports games on consoles, but thinking about picking this up. Does anyone have any insight or personal opinions either way? Thanks in advance!

FWIW Jason Schrier basically said that guy was full of crap. Said that thread was making the rounds at Rockstar internally and everyone was laughing about it.

Dunno if that rumor is bogus or not, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they're spending extra time on the online portion of it. It's been almost 12 years now since GTA V came out, but shit was crazy for those first few months. There was so much duped cash it was insane. I earned my tank the hard way running Mixed Up With Coke missions with a trained crew, everyone getting into position with Sticky Explosives and speed running the mission over and over...but after that we started seeing people putting $1,000,000+ bounties on other players and other crazy nonsense as hackers figured out how to inject cash into their online accounts. It took awhile for Rockstar to clean it all up, but a lot of damage was done. I think a lot of early players like me got bored after that and quit because there wasn't much to unlock after that, while new players that hadn't been exposed to the duped cash were able to enjoy the game.

They're amazing games. Great stories (people are more divided about TLOU2's story, but I liked it for the most part). That said, they're fairly deliberately paced, and there's a fair bit of downtime and environmental puzzles in between the big action moments. No game is for everyone, and if you're mostly an "EA Sports and COD" Gamer (nothing wrong with that), then it may not be for you.

Honestly,... YEARS before the show even came out I thought it was one of the most overrated/overhyped games in history, all the awards it won and hype it got like it was the next Witcher 3,… it's GOOD, but totally linear, at times pretty clunky, offering very little replayability, if any at all... it's a good game, and that's it, but shouldn't appear in anyone's 'greatest game of all time' discussion... that is, was and always will be an absolute asinine take and I feel like I'm being pranked when I hear that stuff. It's a fun enough, good, but largely completely forgettable game. It never at any point should have gotten the shine it did and all these years later I’m trying to figure out how that happened.

I never finished it. I thought it was a bit overhyped too. It usually has to be a bit of a dud for me not to power through a game.

I really like tLoU but my understanding is that the show is a very faithful retelling of the game. If you've already seen the narrative it might not be worth the time investment to play through it.

The ending is one of my favorite little narrative moments in any game ever though.

If Rockstar is smart they'll release the game at the $60 price point to get as many people to buy it as possible, and maybe after 5-6 months get it offered as a free game on PS Plus/X-Box so they can rake in more money via Online.

I don't think Rockstar is worried about getting people to play GTA6

Certainly not. With as long as it's taking to develop, not to mention the overtime hours and delayed release, Rockstar could decide to release it at $70, $80, who knows. My point is if they're smart they'll keep it at the old $60 price point to entice the most people possible and then after that drop it for free ASAP so they can snag the rest of the holdouts and start drawing new money via Online.

Not right away, but I could see a year or so in getting dropped onto PS Plus. It's estimated that GTA V has netted Rockstar $9.5 billion over time. I don't know what they're getting today, but they were pulling $700 million a year just from the Online portion.

Thats insane.

Ive never felt the pull of the Gta games

I played the Online quite a bit when it first came out, I really didn't care for it though. Just felt like a lot of griefing, a lot of pointless killing, I've always found that to be a bit of waste of time. In GTA V Online I enjoyed setting up crews to run missions. I mentioned it before, but we had a group of several people that would run the Mixed Up With Coke mission so efficiently we were farming hundreds of thousands in cash every hour. That was pretty fun, despite the repetitiveness, because it was early in the release and we were unlocking tanks and shit before most people. It got old pretty fast though. The online heists with buddies and some of the new content in the early months kept us around despite the added bugs they brought, I lost interest not long after.

For me the story and characters are usually far better than the Online grind. The missions can sometimes be pretty creative too. To me that's where GTA shines, building your way up in the slums until you've hit it big and you've got that fancy car in a big ass garage. In Vice City and San Andreas I used to go around and find all the collectibles and shit, trying to 100% the game. I found GTA IV to be kinda shitty and lost that ambition, not sure I even beat it. GTA V was better story wise, but I put the controller down once the story was complete.

GTA V isn’t even free no way they give the new one away

Playstation Plus subscribers have gotten it for free in the past, and it remains in your library as long as you're subscribed (Which is necessary anyway if you want to play anything online). Late last year Rockstar also offered it for a limited time for free even if you weren't subscribed to PS Plus, so they could rope more people in.
