He's going to be in the hospital overnight, but as mentioned he has movement in all extremities so that's good news.

His teammates had a lot to say, he's the heart and soul of that defense. After Cleveland lost Watson last week, Jameis Winston and the defense staged a 2nd half comeback to beat the Ravens.

Cleveland Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah was carted off the field in Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens after taking a scary hit.

Losing Owusu-Koramoah was hard on the team, who call him the "energizer of the defense," but that made them play even harder for him in his absence.

"Jeremiah. he's a warrior. He's really like the energizer of our defense. So when he went down it sort of hurt us for a second, but then we collectively said 'We're going to finish this game for him.' We didn't know what his status was at the moment. We know he's okay now, but we were really scared because we really have a lot of love for him and he's one of our leaders," said defensive end Ogbo Okoronkwo.

Fellow linebacker Mohamoud Diabtate, who had a strong game Sunday—tied for most tackles with Grant Delpit at nine as well as a tackle for loss—said losing Owusu-Koramoah put him in the mindset to "pray and play" for him.

"That's one of my best friends on the team, in life in general. We talk every single day, we're in position meetings every day, so to see him down, it hurt me. That's like seeing my blood brother down. So the only thing I could do is pray for him and go out there and play for him. Both of them, pray and play for him," Diabate said. "I feel like we did both of those things and I'm still praying for him and as soon as I'm able to go see him, I'm going to go see him and make sure he's okay and I know he's going to be back and even better."

For the player who is known for being an alkaline vegan, into herbs and tinctures and other natural remedies, his team knows Owusu-Koramoah will probably have just the thing to whip up to get himself right after he's discharged from the hospital.

"We're going to be checking up on him, going to see him, but he'll be back to us soon," said defensive end Myles Garret. "He's tough as nails and I know he'll have some kind of herbal concoction to get him right back on the field."

Damn, completely forgot for a bit that he got taken off the field last season. Here's hoping he can come back 100%.

Our favorite game is a little like the Colosseum, friends. We are going to see this over and over. Especially with the increased velocity on bigger mass. "We" weren't built for this and the Anatomists have always known that. But ...

I love watching football. I also have an internal moral battle with myself about that.

I wish it were different. Mea culpa.

Call it luck or fortune, or both, but JOK did sign a 3yr/$37mil contract extension last off-season that nets him $20 mil guaranteed. Couple that with what he made in his rookie contract, he can walk away from the game without further damaging his long-term health and still have financial security for he and his family for the rest of his life.

Yup, he can give himself a spendable income of a million a year without ever touching that principle

I pretty sure I obviously meant on the football field. But yes this is where 4 for 40 is a great selling point. I just wish I could see their nfl careers play out without these severe injuries. Just crazy talent.

I'm guessing without asking AI like a loser chump, but i remember that being like 250k a year or there abouts?

I read this earlier. Sucks to hear. Honestly he's one of my favorite defensive players this century for ND football. Extraordinarily quick, instinctive, and physical. Kid was a stud at ND especially his final season.

So many ND highlights tackles.
It is a shame he didn't get to make more money at college and pro level.
Maybe he gets into coaching to make the money the game owes him.

Terrible news but I hope JOK makes the best decision for his long term health. Thankfully he got his contract before the injury.

NFL contracts confuse me but according to Sportrac JOK has made $18 million in the NFL, with $25 million more to come (guaranteed?) on his current contract.
He's 26 years old. Hopefully he recovers to be healthy enough to enjoy doing whatever he wants to do with the rest of his life.
