I believe he was the first player to be recruited specifically to play rover. As others have pointed out, Tranquill was the 1st to play the position but your memory isn't too off base. JOK was the 1st rover-specific recruit.JOK had a heck of a game yesterday, the commentators talked about him a ton.

Asmar Bilal I think.Who was the next rover? He kind of killed the position by being too good.
Tranquill and Bilal both played Rover and Buck in the Elko/Lea defenseTranquill
His lil bro should take notice. Come here and get paid, or go to OSU. I couldn’t tell you the last OSU LB who was good in the NFL.
Someone is willing to pay you $13 million dollars a year sounds like the starting pointQuite a few actually. But, I guess it depends on how you define "good".
He is probably the best defensive player on the team (behind Garrett) so, yeah, compared to basketball should be getting more than that.I'm actually surprised it's that low, thought he'd get more.
Let’s please not fight a fight with Ohio State on the grounds of NFL preparedness and success. It is a losing battle to be sure. His lil bro should take notice. Come here and get paid, or go to OSU. I couldn’t tell you the last OSU LB who was good in the NFL.
Imagine the taxes and agent's fees on that. Damn. I wonder how much he'll actually take home. 20mill, maybe?Just signed a 3yr 39m extension with 25m guaranteed!
It's definitely a weak era for LB play.Outside of Roquan Fred Warner the off the ball LB's in the NFL these days are kinda mid. Like is Matt Milano worth the cheese he gets?
I'd hate to have that little of money left.Imagine the taxes and agent's fees on that. Damn. I wonder how much he'll actually take home. 20mill, maybe?
Is that because of the less emphasis on running and a lot more on passing? It's definitely a weak era for LB play.
I think it likely goes hand in hand with the emphasis on analytics. Advanced stats will show that RBs have less value, so contracts are lower. Safeties and off-ball linebackers have also been deemphasized. We've heard for how long that players will be pushing away from playing running back to a more premium position, and I think this likely happened with LB too.Is that because of the less emphasis on running and a lot more on passing?
