Pretty sure I said this before, but with a name like Golden he's destined for greatness here.

Nope, I did an exhaustive search and found this is the very first time someone made that prognostication.

I should follow up with another first about how if we get two Goldens in successive cycles, then our program is on a mission from God.

We're breaking new ground here. Look at us.

Someone call up Dan Akroyd! Get him on the sideline for this season!

Dallas Golden 🤝 Travis Hunter
I honestly think more staffs may entertain the 2 way player with rare talents like Hunter and hopefully Golden. Hunter was easily rated #1 cb and #1 wr in the NFL draft recently which is astonishing. He WANTS to play both ways in the NFL and clearly has exceptional endurance. If Golden can do it and not diminish his play with either unit, I say go for it. His ND career will be fun and exciting.

Honestly, I think Travis is wildly overrated. He's good at both but not elite at either. He could very well turn out to be really really good at one of em, but he's no Charles Woodson. (I know, fuck Michigan) but Woodson was legit elite all around talent. Def my favorite Michigan player but I'm a Raider fan so...

NFL programs were faced with a pretty bleak draft this go around, nobody looks like a "can't miss". Cam Ward? He's really good, but I can't remember a year where he's #1 overall.

Abdul Carter seems like the only one who was an "of course" talent in the top 10. Jeanty maybe, but he has a lot of tread off his tires already.

Freeman and Mickens certainly have the secondary that could allow Golden to try to play both sides.

There probably going to have to do the same if they want to get Joey O'Brien. The thing is both can do it IMO, they are so dynamic especially Golden who is a legit prospect at CB,S,WR and RB.

Golden has to see the field this year as a true freshman. Kid is so talented. He actually rushed for 1,400 yds each of the last 2 years to show the versatility. Has star potential in the secondary or wr. Going to be tough for him to get in the mix his freshman year, but he may do it.

It could be a nice selling point for O’Brien, but I wouldn’t think that would be a determining factor. They have a bunch of things going in their favor for DB recruiting: being coached up by the best in college football, NIL, on field performance, they’ve shown they aren’t afraid to play young guys if they’re good enough, and alumni being successful on Sundays.

Idk man, Travis Hunter is going to be really good. He comes across as extremely down-to-earth and a hard worker, which I think os evident in his play. He’s a dynamic athlete and I think he’s certainly very close to an elite corner and if his route running can come along he’ll be a threat as an NFL receiver. He (and Horn) made Shedeur look really good at Colorado. I think he’ll benefit more than anything from being out of Deion’s family circus. On some level he probably feels like he owes a lot to Deion, but that sideshow had to be draining for a secondary member like THJ.

With the success that Travis Hunter got, I expect this to happen more and more. I prefer he pick a side and excel at it. I have very high hopes for Golden (my #1 prospects in the ND class), but playing both ways will be difficult.

Apparently PSU has said he can or they want him as a WR as well, which has to improve their odds.

I don't really see the problem with letting guys have the chance to play both ways.

If they aren't starter level at either, they will probably switch to one to give themselves the best chance to start.

If they are starter level at one but not the other, they will probably switch to one to give themselves the best chance to make the league.

If they are starter level at both, congratulations, you have a star on your hands.

I don't think many here would have any issue with it, the question is what do he's coaches think?

Thought he looked very comfortable out there yesterday. Besides the INT, he had a PD and a TFL. I don’t specifically remember seeing him out of place which says something with this defense.
He did look out of position and slow on one play early on when he was in. I only noticed it because someone posted “why is 14 slow?” In the game thread. After that he looked good.

Yeah, certainly isn't for lack of athleticism. Golden is an uber athlete.

But he's probably going to have those slow moments, because he's might be slow to recognize a play.

Hopefully, he can give the team a lyft.
If he continues to play decent Hobbs might as well enter the portal and avoid playing more than 4 games. He can then go on to be a backup somewhere like Cal like Mickey.
