Maybe the board can stop bitching about the class now. The strategy was obviously to get a high floor to the class early so they could focus on adding elite, difference making talent without the risk of whiffing entirely.

Two top 100 DBs from Florida committed. What a world.

When we start signing 6 stars... maybe.

Is Coach Freeman shopping down a different isle with some of the talent him and his staff are landing? I don't follow recruiting as closely as some here does. But it does seem like the staff is truly closing the talent gap with some of these commitments. To those who know more than I. Am I wrong? Again. I don't follow recruiting as close as some.

Great pick up for the Irish, he & Ivan Taylor could become a nice 1-2 punch.

Freeman & the staff are building something special.

It seems we have more depth and better evaluation of talent. BK landed around 7 composite 5 stars during his time I believe. Freeman has not gotten one that I’m aware of. However, I would take Freeman’s classes over BK’s. Consistency is the key here. Freeman does it every year. It felt like BK would recruit really well and then take a few years off. We are getting deeper and more talented on both sides of the ball, imo.

Golden is another great pickup.

I think it’s still to early to tell. Rankings wise they are about the same, but they definitely have differing philosophies. And, I do feel Freeman has a clearer vision than Kelly had when here was here. Ultimately, their recruiting rankings are essentially the same and their performance on the field has been comparable. So, it’s wait and see. It’s worth noting that Kelly has turned it up a notch at LSU recently.

About the same overall or in the secondary?

Blue Chip Ratio is steadily increasing, as well (or at least it was prior to last year's NSD).

BCR is the best barometer of potential playoff success.

Freeman is building a base worthy of not just reaching the playoffs (which BK already had in place), but of actually winning games once there.

The question: can he shake off the in-game coaching issues and get the team over the hump from the sideline? Having both Golden and now Denbrock should help immensely. Just need one of these QB's to elevate, now......

Kelly was all over the board at nd for recruiting. They would go a couple of years without recruiting positions well and you would end with voids at key positions like wr, db and rb. For most of his tenure those positions were nowhere near championship quality. That doesn’t even mention qb recruiting and development.

Freeman classes seem to be way more athletic and the top end talent I think is better. Dallas golden just doesn’t commit to the Kelly era teams. If it wasn’t for the nil era, I think freeman would be doing even better than he currently is. I agree that freeman has more of a vision as to what the team needs

Also, big deal on Kelly classes being better at lsu. That place recruits itself
