Thinking about taking the day off and driving my kids up to the middle-of-nowhere in Ohio. Just gonna pull off the side of the highway and set up shop in a random field if possible.... depending on weather reports and clear skies, of course

We just felt a pretty sizeable earthquake (for our standards) here in NJ. 4.8 magnitude. Whole house was shaking for a solid 25 seconds and even knocked a couple things on one of our tables over.

Living here in PA and I'm seeing stuff about how people felt it close to State College. In Schuylkill County here, I didn't feel it at work, but reports that people did locally.

What I recall from the Virginia quake about 12 years or so ago, is that these eastern quakes are obviously rare, but that they are felt over a longer distance than ones in more active locations (like out west), due to rock formations and such. I can't remember the exacts, or if it is accurate, but yeah. I guess they tend to be less power, but felt further.

Shook our house in Bloomsburg, and family felt it in both Williamsport and Scranton. Freaked the hell out of the cat, haha.

No idea what to expect, but it seems that Muncie is in the Path of Totality for the first time in over 1000 years....Glad we get the day off at school, and I also believe that weather charts are now saying Indiana is in the best spot for a good viewing. Exciting.

Not gonna lie it was a lot cooler than I expected.. Not sure I would've driven hours to see but I lived literally right in the middle of totality which worked out well
Agreed, I thought it was awesome. Came home from work early and sat with the family on the patio to watch it (Indy area).

My work closed at noon so everyone would have time to get home. Amazing that just a sliver of the sun could still cast that much light, then darkness. I could feel the temperature drop enough for it to feel cool.

Also found the glasses are great for taking a nap after the eclipse. Lol

My workplace was inside the totality path. My home was not. But it said that the sun would be 99.9% blocked at my house. I assumed that meant it would still get dark at home.

After witnessing the eclipse, I too was amazed at how much light was given off by the tiniest speck of the sun being visible. I'm pretty sure that means it never got dark at my home.

I saw the first three minutes here. 2:07-2:10, and then NOTHING. Thanks cloud cover…

I’m so irrationally disappointed haha.

Watched it from work in the Indy area. I didn’t expect much and I was truly blown away when totality happened. It’s one of those experiences you can’t really explain until you see it

Never thought I'd stare at the sky for minutes in a row.

Felt like a turkey when it rains.

It was pretty cool to experience, but I found my kids' reaction to it the coolest part. My 8 year old in particular was fascinated and excited. I'm never buying her a phone now. LOL

Indianapolis Motor Speedway had 50K show up. All 50 states and 33 countries represented. NASA was there running a couple of experiments. Reported that about 25% of those had never been to the Speedway before. Pretty good marketing ploy using the eclipse to draw visitors, but hard to tell how many may buy tickets for the 500 in the next year or two.

A major research university in Japan has found a strong link between autism and fatty acids in umbilical cord blood. If this holds up after further research, we may finally have a way to prevent autism or at least predict which children are at high risk and then be able to mitigate its effects.
This is great, but also be prepared for more abortions if they are unable to prevent autism in fetuses and only able to diagnose. That’s what happened when other serious defects were able to be diagnosed in the womb.

This is crazy. I knew about telomere length and health but this is way more promising than I realized. Human trials in late 2025.

How so? If god taketh away it also gave us the tools to bringeth back.

This is fucking amazing! Being able to reintegrate diversity is a good thing. Diversity in biological systems is a good thing and is necessary to avoid genetic and population bottlenecks that lead to extinction events.

Also we are only a few steps away from Gattaca and genomic based human perfection lol.
