Cue one of the spokespersons from the Beta Boys Socialist Pride Club to rush in all in a tizzy and lecture us about how stupid Trump is to want to rename all of the Western Hemisphere.

I can get behind this. Declaring the cartels to be terrorist doesn’t mean we will march into
Mexico or do anything in Mexico without some cooperation.

Brah, Trump just restarted the Mexican-American war! It's the end of Tequila and Avocados!

Using US military or economic power to execute national strategy. If Panama is violating the treaty in which we gave them the Canal back, then we have every right to use our national power to correct that.
Didn't the treaty end in 1999 with giving full control back to Panama?

We're just kidding/bluffing right? If the U.S. actually used military force, how would it not completely parallel what Putin claims for his actions in Ukraine?

Panama maintains full sovereignty over the Canal, but they are still required to maintain neutrality over its operations. It is certainly up for debate to the extent of which handing over operations of the Canal to China violate neutrality, but I for one think that giving our #1 geopolitical foe control over the operations of the single most strategically important passage of water for our armed forces is neutral.

I think there is a pretty substantial distinction to be made between what's going on over there and taking control of the Panama Canal.

But even if there weren't a distinction to be made, gotta do what ya gotta do.
