Kelly's partly to blame for our horrible WR depth. The WR room was almost forgotten. He recruited talent...not much!
I like how he basically admits that he couldn't get it done at ND, but someone else is.

I honestly don't hate BK, I don't think much of him, but I don't really hate him. I think it's humorous he ditched us for perceived greener pastures, and we've blown past him, but I'm grateful he dragged us out of the gutter. We were on a potential Nebraska tier spiral until he came to South Bend. He peaked with us, what rubs us the wrong way is he blamed ND for that, instead of taking any accountability. For better or worse, 2015, 2018, and 2020 were as good as it would ever get with him, and that is better than 95% of other CFB programs, but we don't cheer for ND to be in the 5%, but to be in the top of the 1%.

Sometimes a job or working environment/relationship ultimately grows dull or gets monotonous and a change is needed. I’ve been there before and I believe everyone has (or will) experience that at some point during their respective careers. That said, that doesn’t always mean that the grass is greener on the other side …

Kelly did a lot of great things at Notre Dame. He restored ND to a consistent top 10 program. He brought them to a NC, a Fiesta Bowl, and two Playoffs. Unfortunately, he was coaching Notre Dame during the GOAT Saban’s tenure, elite Clemson, Ohio State, and Georgia squads, and what I consider the GOAT team (certainly subjective), 2019 LSU. He likely maxed out at Notre Dame.

I’ve referenced the radio show host before, but Baton Rouge’s Matt Mascona (LSU guy that spent 1-year at Holy Cross and brother is a “Double Domer”) recently said that it took Kelly leaving Notre Dame for the boosters and donors to get their act in gear and start pouring money and resources into the program - further validating Kelly's talking points. He also said Notre Dame has loosened some of its academic restrictions — whether either is true or not, I have no clue. Frankly, I doubt he does as well….but that’s a whole other topic.

Ultimately, Kelly did many great things at Notre Dame. Say what you will, but he was able to restore the program and he persuaded Freeman to come to Notre Dame (and not LSU). So, technically, Kelly helped you all with Freeman. Freeman, in turn, has elevated the program to the next level — something Kelly could not do.

It’s always tricky timing wise and you have extremely tight “shot clocks” on these offers, but the way he left could have been handled better, I agree. Less said, for the most part, is always better. Lastly, his “I recruited many of their players” spiel is likely a crock of shit. That’s him politicking and self-promoting or saving face. All the credit for this team goes to Freeman and staff.

BK will always hold the mantle as the best coach between the Holtz - Freeman eras

The question over time, how much does that title matter?

I strongly disagree, he left the program. He deserves to get dunked on. Especially when the coach that replaced him has ND in the title game. Let people bask in the BK hate, especially if ND wins tonight
Hey, I have enjoyed the pointing and laughing at Mr. LSU. I'm just saying that I'm seeing where folks act like he's incompetent or some kind of micromanaging ogre. I don't think those jibe with reality.

Freeman isn't surpassing Kelly because Kelly was stumbling over his own feet. Freeman is kicking ass.

Brian Kelly is the last thing on my mind today or anytime the past month. He's like an ex girlfriend who wouldn't do anal. What's his name again?

Looking back, Kelly was bad for the program. Yes, he was successful, but he had us convinced it was impossible to be where we are now.
So glad he’s gone.

To me that doesn’t matter anymore now. It’s the Freeman show.

Who is Brian Kelly?

Stop it. With the portal (or no portal) there are no more excuses. 😂

I'll say it: I think the Brian Kelly hate has gotten out of hand. It's easy because he's not very likeable but he did a lot of good things for ND.

I also think he is a good coach but lost his fastball, so to speak.
Agreed. Hated the way he left, but he took us another notch up from where we were.

Kelly doesn't take down Georgia and Penn State.
He would have played not to lose as he did in every big game.

Thanks for proving Notre Dame is still relevant and can still compete.
Now fuck off Brian.

I mean they should be a top 10 team next year, Nussmeier is very good and could easily be a heisman contender. They also ended this season #11 in Sargarin.
