Exactly, some of the biggest clickbait I've ever seen in a tweet. The video the guy goes "oooo they're interested... but doubt anything happens" ... like how is that even a story?
Anything to generate traffic on social media.

To be fair, the reporter said it was unlikely that Freeman would interview before the national championship game.

I still don't think it happens, though. Maybe I'm drinking the Kool-Aid here, but I think 1) ND realizes what a special guy Freeman is, and will do anything and everything to get him to stay, and 2) Freeman wouldn't go back on his word when the announcement of the extension already happened. I just can't see Freeman not disclosing NFL interest during contract negotiations, and if he did, I think ND would wait to announce the extension.

Just seems really unlikely he listens.

As a diehard Bears fan (unfortunately) it makes zeros sense on both sides… just beat the Buckeyes!

Nothing to worry about I'm ND first then Bears.
He would be taking a pay cut to come to an inept ownership. And by pay cut I bet he makes 10 mil a year at ND. Bears paid Eberflus 5 mil a year.
Bears are getting Ben Johnson

Not to mention he would lose all credibility because his whole thing is team/ND before yourself. Team glory first.

What are you talking about? It’s not like he’d leave before the game. He’s always said team glory brings individual glory. They win the natty and he gets a job in the NFL is exactly the type of scenario he’s talking about.

Any hire, no matter who it is, would be a massive let down and the program would fall apart relatively quickly. There’s nobody out there I’d have in mind and they’d likely promote Deland or Golden or something bc there aren’t really any good options. Let’s hope ND just offers him so much money he has to see this through to a title like Harbaugh did.

Peanut butter Angeli time. Freeman's halftime speech had my old butt wanting to suit up. I love this team. I love what coach has instilled in these kids. I'll say this. I'm not sure if this is a start of something big. But it sure does feel like it.

Notre Dame or UA... anyone... if you want my money make an ND shirt or hoodie that says "Go out there and fight!"

PS anyway we can hear penn states half time speech?

I think you and everyone on the board know the answer to this.
Probably because if he drives into the wrong town at the wrong time some rando drinking coffee isn’t going to say look at this “chin k” for example.
Also, most states defined what it meant to be black, particularly those below the Mason Dixon line and by every standard he meets that definition.
Let’s not pretend.

Agree 100% the only guy who could possibly come here and maybe coach as good would be Urban but he’s not gonna be an ambassador to the school like Freeman

I hope this doesn’t linger and he comes out immediately and removes himself as a candidate.

I really think this is Kevin Warren leaking this as a favor to the Big 10 knowing there is no real shot at Freeman

Its not about if he’d leave before the game or not. More about interviewing, and/or letting this manifest into any sort of distraction for this team. If that means the opportunity passes him by, then thats what it should mean.

The interview would be after the game, not before.

I’m not fucking stupid. I’m sure if he doesnt squash it immediately it wont be a distraction to the team at all….you’re right. Letting this linger would be putting his personal career aspirations before this team in this moment this year which is the point.

If the Bears sign a defensive head coach, especially one who trusts his OC as much as Marcus does, and they have success, Caleb is going to have a new OC/system almost every year. Cant have that much instability at this stage of Calebs career considering how much they've invested in him. Bears will go for an offensive head coach.
Anyone heard from Lincoln Riley recently?

No need to worry about something you can’t control, but it’s not going to happen.

I’m sorry but all of you are being dumb and I’m saying this as a Bears fan lol. Of course he’s appealing to the Bears, they love keeping tabs on the head coaches of the midwestern powers and let’s be honest Marcus Freeman is extremely impressive. But it’s too soon and even the Bears know that. Let him get some more seasoning in CFB and then pull a Pete Carroll.
