In the postgame, Tim Tebow remarked that it says a lot about RL how he galvanized the locker room immediately and was voted captain as a transfer right from the get go.

RL is probably the most wholesome person I've ever seen.

Yes. Sort of hard seeing his game translating to the NFL, despite how sneakingly PHENOMENAL his running ability is.

He is so "out-of-norm" when it comes to QBs that I watched several games not believing it possible that he would do us any real good.

Wow. what a mind-boggler. He just has to drive our own OC and coaches crazy with unexpected burps, then brilliance, belches then beat-you slash and dances. We have a lot of tools on this team offensively, but he turns out to be the one that does the thing when the game has to be won. ....... never would have believed it.

I feel like he’d be back in a second if able.
RL be back? How about Dart, McCord, Ward even... Who knows. It would really open things up and enable 4th-year players to seriously consider NFL draft status vs. staying a 5th year. And, short of any new rules re: easy transferring year to year, imagine the QB and other top position musical chairs occurring at an even greater level! Maybe Dart, McCord, and even Ward, go to brand new teams in their 5th year for more $ and a better chance for a natty. All the more reason in such a fluid player environment for 2024 and beyond, to build strong team/school cultures like MMFF and Dillingham are doing... So much more important these days. Other than $, give the star players reasons to stay at your school and continue to compete... Give Frosh and Sophomores at your school a reason to not transfer and stay put. That's the modern CFB end game. It's like we all know from the business world. It's so much more labor intensive and costly to acquire new customers vs. retaining existing customers. And they're so much more profitable the longer you hang on to them!

Can we get the title of this thread changed to "Notre Dame Man"? I don't care how the rest of the playoffs go. The way he's represented the University has been perfect. A true selfless leader.

Yes, and please delete all of my posts between 9/7/24 and 9/14/24.
Riley, I already said it once in this thread, but... I'm sorry.

I shit on him multiple times this year.

I have never been more glad to eat shit.

Dude is a Notre Dame man if there ever was one. Thanks for being that dude, RL.

I have to admit, I wasn't excited about ND getting Leonard in the offseason, but thank you Sam Hartman.

If possible I would take Leonard for another season. He is having fun, he is always smiling, he is a competitor.

Agree on the Golden Retriever comments; Golden Riley is so likable.

Is there really a possibility he's granted an extra year? Remember the jump Jayden Daniels made in his 2nd year?

Lot of reason to believe Leonard could make a similar jump. Recovering from injury through spring and some of summer. Didn't have time to practice/mesh with the WRs. A full offseason would be amazing.

I'm a huge CJ Carr fan and, if healthy, I believe he's a QB who can put ND up another notch because of his processing/throwing. But if the health of CJ Carr is still undetermined or he could be worked into the game plan with Leonard leading the show, it seems like a win-win.

I don't see how he doesn't have a good argument for a 5th year and with the NCAA likely giving guys 5 years anyways he has a great chance to get approved.

Since the NCAA seems to be close to granting a no-condition 5-year player term, it's worth positioning some reason to get it, since the NCAA may just grant it. That's why I think McCord may actually get it (esp. with barely playing 5 games in 2021). He finds out this week or by early next week it sounds like. That is, if RL really wanted to do this, altho' probably time for him to move on with our slate of younger QBs coming up, but who knows.

What is Leonard’s argument for a fifth year?

He has clearly played in more than four games in each of four seasons (in no season has he appeared in less than seven). And even his freshman year it wasn’t some accident, he was basically starting by the end of it.

If they go to five years for everyone, cool. Bring him back. But even by the “lol nothing matters” standard of this stuff now I don’t understand what his case would be.

This is the ONLY basis. Hey NCAA, you’re eventually going to give everyone 5 years, so just let me do it early.

What is his quotes about credits not transferring is him setting the foundation for the argument that the current 5 year limit is hurting his chance to further his education?
Thinking same, but again, yes give him his 5th year, but do we really want him here for a 5th year? I guess there are +s and -s for him to stay/ leave. Maybe he goes elsewhere for a 5th year like Ewers?
