I really hope these championship games rate crap enough that they get rid of them in the next few years. There is no way Clemson deserves to be in a position to claim the ACC over SMU.
Even with a loss to them SMU would have a better record than Clemson.
Agreed the CCG should go away. With SMU vs Clemson, it’s gonna feed the narrative that the ACC is just bad b/c SMU didn’t play anyone so their record is misleading. Clemson did play a few tough teams (UGA & UL) & got boatraced. And then they choked vs their in-state rival USCe. It’s looking more like an evolution to two super conferences b/c they’re no objective way to determine the best teams for a playoff format. JMO

I think that the committee might be stuck if Clemson wins but not a complete thrashing. Then they'd be forced to count to twelve without Alabama. Looking back at the rankings, if Oregon also clobbers PSU, then shouldn't we then get Arizona State or SMU in game one at home? I'm assuming Texas still gets the number one non-bye, and ND gets the number two non bye.

I just don’t see Texas being above ND. I know everyone has their SEC tin foil hats on but I just don’t see a two-loss team that has no ranked wins staying ahead of ND.

If PSU loses this game, ND is 3 and gets the five seed.

If Oregon wins, I think ND sits at 6. If penn st wins, ND is at 7.

Not that I think Texas should be at 5 in the former, but I think they will be.

This is how it *should* be, yes. How it will be? I dunno.

I mean ND’s resume is better than Texas’s, and it’s not all that close. And ND only has one loss.

No one thinks your wrong about what should happen. The committee is going to put SEC and (to a lesser extent) B1G teams behind us until it becomes completely indefensible to do so.

You guys are crazy if you think the losing teams today don’t drop in seeding. We’re locked in at 5 or 6 (if Penn St wins).

Honestly Leonard would rush for 200 yds on Oregon

Had the same thought. College football is hard to predict from week to week, but seeing Georgia's play against Ga Tech and Oregon getting pushed around by Penn State makes me feel weirdly confident.

Because that's what they do.

The whole thing is that the playoff committee didn’t want to punish team that play this weekend (except SMU, it seems).

But Texas wouldn’t be “punished” if they fall below ND. They’d still make the playoff and host a game.

I just doubt they drop the SEC CCG OT loser below a team that didn't play.

I think they'd do it to Penn State, if Oregon smashes them, but that's not happening rn.

Hard disagree. PSU and Texas drop below ND with a loss tonight. They’ll still get a home game. But they won’t keep Texas and PSU ahead of the Irish.

It's not all reward no risk, or at least it shouldn't be. You want a bye that's great, you may get dropped too. Good luck.

Did anyone else hear (I think Gary Danielson) say "Alabama has to be feeling good, right? Things have really been breaking their way". The one thing that could possibly hurt them is happening - Clemson beating SMU, meaning Clemson steals a bid. But they know SMU is totally screwed if they lose, because otherwise that comment makes no sense

Struggling to see whatever has given you guys this great faith in the CFP committee.
