They don't really have the money to send him packing this year. Not quite as dire as FSU/Norvell, but similar.
Just saying what’s been widely reported recently. He needs to hang on to Underwood or he’s likely gone.

He is good but not that good. And right now we don’t know how good he is because of his Injury.
We also have no idea how good these “5 stars” other schools are getting either.

I’ll take CJ Carr in the program for a year and half, showing definite signs of ability in a spring game, over these ‘25 5 stars.

Absolutely broken sport lmao. And ND has been a net beneficiary of NIL.

Why would Larry Ellison get involved with Michigan football? He was born in NYC and dropped out of college as a pre med student at the University of Illinois. Then moved to the West Coast. He’s never had a wife named Jolin.

I’m pretty sure it’s a different Larry Ellison. Lol.

Notre Dame needs to adapt and chance first they need to start allowing undergrads in to transfer second they need to set aside a NIL fund for highschool guys. 95% of the 5 starts want upfront money end of story

Michigan had a premier QB in their backyard 3 years in a row; A state power school (Dante Moore), A legacy (Carr) - they had to get this one. I don't find it surprising and they needed to overpay/overpromise to get him, which they should have.

There is nothing anyone can say that will convince me that this current form of NIL is good for the sport. I am 100% for the student athletes being compensated but this is ridiculous. The importance of NIL is lost when we are at the point of some cuck using his platform to brag about buying players.
I'm not convinced our NIL is anywhere near the top teams who are paying around $20M/year.

Imagine trusting *checks notes* Sherrone Moore to effectively manage this bought talent and put a winning product on the field.

Imagine knowing that as a HC, you, your program, your culture WEREN’T good enough for a recruit for 3 years, but now you’ve brought him into the fold thanks to 10mil. Is he going to respect you as a coach? Is he going to care one iota about, "The Team, The Team, The Team"?? Nah.

I, for one, foresee all this imploding. And it’s going to be hilarious.

ND is better positioned in this environment than they were in the previous one where the only people spending $$ were the cheaters.
Better positioned among the elites or against the whole though? If we've evened the playing field among most teams who were paying $10k here, $50k there, but now so far behind the elites who will dump millions per 5 star, we've narrowed a gap but not the gap that matters.

Maybe this has already been posted but I read this AM that Underwood will be paid $12MM. Didn’t take long for things to spiral out of control.

2021 Rivals Five Star QBs, Pro Style:

Quinn Ewers, Brock Vandargriff, Sam Huard

Dual:

Caleb Williams, Ty Thompson

I mean, you've got Ewers and the mom hugging nail polish guy who won a Heisman on here. I can't even fathom what the other three are doing right now. Don't know. Don't care.

No, ND is not "so far behind the elites" when it comes to NIL. The five stars you're complaining about aren't coming to ND for a variety of reasons; money is not one of them.

The amount of hair pulling on this board over a kid who was clearly looking for the bag flipping from LSU to Michigan is outrageous. Reminds me of the hysterics surrounding Dante Moore, who's done nothing during his college career, but that didn't stop many of you from getting your panties in a wad.

The complaining is so tiring. ND is in a terrific place, having its best season in years. If you can't get behind that, and are still finding things to complain about, maybe it's time to support another team.

Why is that a bad thing? He's going to get $12 million for at least three years in college. Kirby Smart makes $13 million a year, on the backs of kids like this.

Why is it a problem that guys are seeing some money?
