I get it, context is hard.

It’s not that we talk about them, it’s how comfortable some guys are with how they talk about these kids.

In this thread alone, once Thomas Loy and Wiltfong started hinting that NOB may be leaning toward scUM, we already started with the backdoor dismissals of him as a player and prospect and making wild assumptions that he’s sitting out his entire season due to NIL lol.

It happens every time and this guy is literally still coming for a visit.

This stemmed from me asking if he’s actually playing football. He seems fine and hasn’t recorded any stats. So there’s an injury making him miss his senior year? That’s not good. No injury? Then why is he not playing. He’s also visited about 7 different schools this fall. There’s plenty of red flags that are being ignored because he’s JOK’s brother.

You do realize this a forum dedicated almost entirely to talking about high school and college kids.
I will say that the college players are almost exclusively adults. No need to infantilize these guys, everyone that age is treated as adults in most ways

I tend to agree with you Mac. In fact, I make an effort not to talk shit about kids. I went back and reread what I wrote and didn't see what you may have interpreted.

My hot take wasn't aimed at NOB, but rather a generalization of those kids who choose to sit out. They almost never pan out. And their issues follow them and the teams they play for.

Ah in that case, welcome to the Internet! If questioning someone's heart because he's sitting out is your threshold for tolerance, strap up it's going to be a wild ride.

I'm not big in taking personal shots at "kids". But at the same time they are making millions of dollars in many cases because the fan base is so passionate. If people didn't care those checks go away.

For the record I think NOB is a high ceiling/low floor prospect but also isn't coming here.

I was uncomfortable with it until they became employees. Most by the time it matters are 18 and employable. If he was the 18 year old at midas and f’ed up your brakes a cussing would be in order and potentially acceptable (depending on your Karen level). When it was still faux student athlete it made sense to protect them but with pre enrollment NIL and pay for visits and interviews it is pretty fair to yay or boo them simply because if it were not for the plaudits or rotten tomatoes there would be zero nil or value to the pre enrollment process.

I remember watching a football game on TV when I was in the military, with my two squadron mates I rented a house with, and the average age was about 20, & we were laughing every time the announcers were referring to the 22 year olds as “kids.”
If you do a 4 year enlistment straight out of HS, you are a Veteran by 22. LOL
I know we all acted & were treated as grown ass men at 20, yet for some reason we treat 22 year old college athletes as “kids?”

I get this—and I don’t necessarily disagree with all of you—but I’ll acknowledge my bias as someone who has spent 15 years in K-12 education. It doesn’t matter how you define them as “employees” or “millionaires.” They’re still the same kids who have brains that aren’t fully developed and often don’t have great support behind them when it comes to making decisions. Just because they can run, jump, and play ball at a level that could put them on our radar doesn’t make them any different than the knuckleheads I deal with every day. I can understand why they’re held to a different standard, but I don’t always agree that they should be. If I think of the shit I was getting into and doing at the age of these kids…I’m just glad there wasn’t a forum devoted to all that.

I think he wants to play early and won’t get that chance here
I think if he’s as good as people think he is, he’d play early at ND. Golden has shown no fear of playing young linebackers. Sneed played early and I’m still not sure he knows what he’s doing.

If he isn’t as good on Day One as his ranking says he’ll be, he’d play at Michigan regardless. They’ll badly need the bodies.

Still can't wrap my mind around someone committing to Michigan. I mean, unless the powers that be are telling these kids they'll get a slap on the wrist, why risk it? You can play anywhere, why play under sanctions and out of the national spotlight?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe he’s dropped a bit in the rankings since the beginning of the year but they may just be because he’s not playing much this year.

It’s going to be hard for him to see the field much next year with Bowen, KVA, and Ausberry. Even if Sneed leaves, he’d also need to pass Kia and possibly Faraimo as well.

Which LB spot would we envision him playing at mainly? At 200-205, he's not especially big. Rover?

It’s not like he’s bound to them. If They get hit with sanctions you have an easy decommit reason

Yeah bud I can’t really disagree with you on any of this. I think when I shit on kids it’s probably 25% about the kid and 75% about the kid’s handlers. I have never once said a peep about a kid who comes on a visit and we just arent for them.

I would be very surprised about if he was serious about ND. He is about the flash and the money. Neither of those normally work out well here.

Hopefully he goes to Colorado and does well. We can’t honestly hope he does well at Michigan lol.

If NOB is as advertised as he is he will be given every opportunity to play early at ND.

I remember Braiden McGregor as good as he was probably was told he would get PT right away at Michigan and he didn't become a starter until his senior season at Michigan.

Every team thinks they lead after he visits there so id definitely take ET’s update with a grain of salt

It’s very clearly an ND-Michigan battle. I do think he has a Texas visit looming, though I’m not positive about that.

Nah....definitely gonna get a check to go visit, then commit to Auburn....only to storm the field at an Ole Miss game
